One of the most asked questions I get is, “What color did you is your living room/dining room?” I try to respond to all the questions I get in e-mails and in comments.. but as I was browsing through this months Better Homes & Gardens I saw a whole article dedicated to the color I used. So I decided to dedicate a blog post to the color. The color is Wood Smoke by Glidden. From the instant I saw this color a year ago, I fell in love. I have a slight unhealthy obsession with the color gray. Wood Smoke is the perfect neutral, & for lack of a better description, “Brown Gray”. Anyways so I took a few pictures of the article.. There were some other paint colors listed in the article that are pretty amazing as well…

Wood Smoke:
“Gray is the new neatral, and it’s easy to see why-this color goes with almost any other hue and makes art stand out.”
Check out this article for yourself on Pg. 43 of the March edition of Better Homes & Gardens magazine.

Grey is great for a thousand things. And because it isn't white, it makes white look so much more clean and interesting when set against it. Great blog! And I love the ideas you come up with for your decorating. :]

Love your dresser! Would you mind telling me what color you painted it?
My customers have increasingly been seeking out grays these last 2 years, and I can’t say I am sorry. With so many furnishings stores offering nothing but beige, brown, and more brown, at least the gray is a way to break up all that with a different tone on the walls.
My only input is that one has to watch using gray for virtually all of a home, that it not get too “cold.” A touch of wood, gold or a hot color like yellow is a quick way to warm up a gray room.
I like this gray and have been trying it out a bit on my wall (sample test) but it looks more gray in your photo than it does in my house, question – did you get the glidden wood smoke at the full 100% concentration? And when you took the picture did you use a flash? maybe I just need to do it all and see how it looks, different on each wall but looks good, I’m just the worst at decisions, ahhh :s.
