An Evolution Of A Chair…

  A few weeks ago I found this homely looking chair at our local “Goodwill”, along with some other fun little treasures that I am so excited to show you. The chair was only $2.00.. yup. I originally bought the chair to go with my makeup vanity, but after getting it home, I found  out it doesn’t really fit well. Needless to say, I am still on the lookout for the perfect little vanity chair. For now this chair is just sitting in my living room being extremely cute…

{Before…}

The chair went through a few changes before it’s final look….

Okay. So first off I wanted to paint the seat of the chair in a chevron pattern, which turned into stripes.. which I hated. I taped the chair off into stripes and painted the stripes in an aqua green color. I just wasn’t satisfied…

I ended up stripping all of the paint of the seat off the seat portion of the chair & staining the natural wood. I am in love with how it turned out.. ( & can I mention you will be seeing a lot of this technique from me in future.. I have some BIG plans!) To strip the chair I honestly used a screw driver & sandpaper. If it wasn’t such a spur of the moment change I would have used paint stripper, but I love the rustic look it gave the seat.

Are you getting sick of this blue color yet?? Yeah, me either. I love it!! I get a lot of questions about what color this is. & I wish I could tell you… I don’t know if this is common at Wal-Mart because I never have bought paint there except for this one time, but they didn’t label it!! So it’s a random blue from Wal-mart if that helps you any…
I love the distressed wood & the dark walnut stain made the distressed wood stand out.
Mkay. & that pillow is one of my new favorite finds.. Got to love good old TJ Maxx.
So there you go. My lovely little chair.. I’m happy with the way it turned out.  If you have Inquired about being featured on Liz Marie Blog.. I am getting to the e-mails thanks for all of the lovely inquiries, & if you want to be featured e-mail me at Lizmariegalvan@gmail.com.  I hope you all are having a great weekend so far… I hope mine looks up.. I’m still waiting on that handsome marine of mine to come home… I miss him so much. Fingers crossed.
xx Liz

  9. Love it! I have a chair that is that color!! It was one of the free Glidden paint sample thingies and it was called Robin's Egg Blue, although it is a bit more nuclear power plant than your blue. I am TOTALLY going to paint/stain the seat now. Thanks for the inspiration!!

  16. LOL! I bought a huge heavy dining room table and I love it paid $50 for it. I wanted it for my sewing room so I could have one huge work area.
    One end is for my machine and the rest is my cutting and work area. The person that had it before me used it for her crafting and there is glue and stuck on lint on the top I have not yet refinished it but would love just redo the top. Now it has my cutting board on it and the damage can't be seen. Someone said I could lightly wipe it down with some paint thinner but I a skidish about doing that. I don't want to make thing worse.
