Bright Numbered Nightstand With Stripes

Lately I have been getting tweets, comments,
emails, & other forms of social media communications
asking me to use other colors other then my signature
blues & teals. oops. haha was it getting that bad?
Well, the truth is, I don’t put up every piece of furniture
I paint on the blog & I need to get better at that.
So expect other colors coming to you very soon, but
I will never abandon my signature color.. so expect
those too.

This nightstand was in our master bedroom, & it was from
one of those “everyone has it, not unique, bedroom suits”
I took it out of our master bedroom & decided to give it
a makeover to give it a new & very unique life.

striped nightstand with numbers

I don’t have the exact before picture, but like I said.. it’s a pretty
generic nightstand & this is what it looked like…

& after…

By adding a yellow green called Desert springs by Valspar, some
white stripes, stenciling the drawers & distressing with a dark stain, this nightstand
is no longer generic & would be a statement piece
in any room.

To achieve the crisp white stripes on the top of the nightstand,
I simply taped the stripes off & painted white over the tape.
After a few coats, I peeled up the tape & had these beautiful
stripes that made this nightstand anything but ordinary.

The numbers? Those are simply just stenciled on with the
same white paint I used for the stripes.
To finish off the nightstand, I went over it with a dark
walnut stain to antique it & finished with a coat of
polyurethane.

I am not a fan of “matchy-matchy” furniture in any room,
& this is a great way to update a few of your pieces to give your
decor a more eclectic feel.

What do you think of the nightstand?
Are you a fan of the bold color??

Love the yellow and the stripes. Don’t love the numbers. At first I thought they were photoshopped on, that you wanted us to compare drawer 1 to 2 for some reason. But I love the yellow and the stripes!
