This weekend I have been finishing a few piece including this is one that I am not quite done with yet. I have a little bit more sanding and then I am going to wax this piece & it will be done. My question for you guys was if you wanted to see a video on how I wax my furniture pieces… Leave a comment below if that’s something you want to see & I will record me working on this little coffee table so you can see ![]()
Here was the little baby before I worked on it…
I’m loving this table so far. I used Annie Sloan “Old White” & distressed the piece to give it that perfect shabby chic look. I am going to be using a clear wax over the paint after I distress a little bit more.. & then she’s done!
Leave a comment below if you want to see a video on how I wax to seal my furniture pieces & I will even include a little distressing how to in the video as well.
If you missed my last “How To” video you can see it {here} for tips & tricks on spray painting. I hope you had a great weekend!
Talk to you soon..

Would like to see video. Since I am a new painter, I am not sure of right distressing method. No classes offered near me so thanks!
Awesome! I will do it.. I didn’t know the demand for something like that.. thanks so much for your feedback!!
Please Please, please let me watch you wax it. I have tried unsuccessfully to wax a couple of pieces, and need some help. I love your blog and all of your adventures in junkin and repurposing for a beautiful home. Thanks, Deby
Well thank you Deby! & Thank you for your feedback.. I will be working on the video this week. Wax can be tricky.. but I will say that I will be using annie sloans soft wax for this project if that helps at all.
I would love to see a video on waxing love all your pieces you do!
Sounds good sandy! I will for sure be doing one on this piece.. I will also include some more footage of the complete piece. Thanks for your feedback!
Yes, please. I have done a few pieces, but would love to see your technique. I love everything of yours that I have seen. Thank you.
A tutorial would be great! I love trying different techniques on pieces. Where is your rug from?
The rug is from Rugsusa.com!! Thanks for your input and I am for sure doing the video!
Yes, tutorial on waxing furniture,
please!
I would love too see a video! I enjoyed your last one a lot.
great coffee table!
i love your coffee table! it would be great to see a waxing tutorial. oh and a little question, is the annie sloan wax indeed clear, or does it yellow with time? i am so paranoid about the yellowing and have had such bad luck, now that i have found my non-yellowing varathane i am hesitant to try anything else with white, but i love the finish that wax gives…
Good question! I have never ever had it yellow on me. It has always dried clear and stayed clear. It does deepen the color of your piece. Kind of like a ‘wet’ look.. but not really. Does that make any sense?? I hope it does! But I have had poly yellow on me but never this wax.
Yes please!! Would love to see how you do it!!
Will do!!
I would love to see how you distress, I have tried so many techniques and it always looks like I sanded etc., so would love your ideas on distressing and waxing. I have just now gotten to try the ASCP and am working on a dining room table. I keep distressing the top but does not look right so I have not waxed yet. thanks so much!!! Love the table!!
Thank you so much for your input.. I will have to do a separate video all on distressing with tips and tricks. I didn’t do too much on distressing in this one, that will be my next video for sure!
Yes, please send me a video. I would love to see your technique.
Would def.like to see your tutorial on waxing this coffee table. Thanks, Angela
A video would be great!
I would love a video!! Your work always looks so good and I am wanting to paint a couple of things, but the waxing part has been holding me back. Can you say scared!
would love to!
Would love a video on waxing AND buffing.
I would love to see how you wax. I’ve done some, but don’t feel I’ve got the hang of it, yet. Thanks for asking and for your willingness to share.
That’d be great! I’m new to ASCP so any tips would be great before I move on to bigger pieces! xo, Kimberly
I’m new to “refinishing” furniture…after seeing all of this fabulousness online, I couldn’t resist! Call me a lil ignorant but I never knew you had to “wax” a piece after distressing so I’m really looking forward to your video. What does waxing do?
Hi Crystal! you are not ignorant at all.. Waxing adds protection like a poly coat. By working in the wax on a piece you protect the piece of furniture. You will find that everyone has there own way of painting furniture and you will find your own niche and what works best for you.. Don’t ever feel ignorant or like you don’t do something right, find your way and enjoy it
The video will be up at the end of the week
I would love to see a video on waxing furniture! The coffee table looks great.

I would like to see the waxing also! Thanks!
I would LOVE a waxing video. Your redo’s are always so gorgeous!
Yes please show us how you do this. You sure makes beautiful stuff. I never realized that you had to do more than paint and sand spots, so this will be a great way to learn how you make things so shabby chic !!
Love your blog, and would love to see your tips on how you wax. I just purchased ASCP this weekend and am dying to use it, but nervous about the waxing part. Do you have any suggestions for the waxing brush? I’m trying to see if there is an alternative brush I could use instead of the ASCP wax brush.
yes plz!! i’d love a tutorial like that!
Oh I’d love to see a waxing vid too. Fabulous piece.
That’s just the subject I’ve been researching lately…how to wax and what wax works best over chalk paint. Would love to see your video!!
love love love!! what a transformation!!!
you did a great job!
it’s wonderful and I have just the place for it, giggle xo
Yes please do a video I’ve been wanting to see how to do it and the difference it makes if any!

xoxo laurie
Thank you Laurie!! Old White is one of my all time favs!!
Love the table & would live to see the video!
Love your coffee table! You did a fabulous job of it. I painted mine before chalk paint became popular. I love my table too but it was a lot of work! Have a wonderful weekend.
Blessings,
Sandi
What a great transformation, it’s so much fun completely changing the look of a piece!

Pretty! I love the finish. I’ve been trying to hunt down a place here that sells Annie Sloan, because I’d really like to try it. You did a great job!
So cute, of course
Of course I’d LOVE a video to show what you did to turn that formerly crappy coffee table into the beautiful shabby chic one! I absolutely love it!!
I would love to see your video. I have so much furniture to work with but have no idea where to start. Your work is awesome
Looks great Liz! Another vote for a video
Beautiful! Gotta love that Old White, huh? Classy and goes with everything! The distressing was really what makes this piece yours, and it looks great!
Would love a video. I have just tried mms milk paint and wax. I am having trouble getting the buffing to look smooth. Would love a tutorial. Do you distress before you wax?
So pretty! You distressed it the perfect amount and the white colour looks great with your white sofa. I adore your style.
What a beautiful table! Love your distressing job and it looks great against that rug. Thanks so much for coming out to the party at Clean and Scentsible. I’ll be featuring it tomorrow. Enjoy your Sunday!
Jenn
Beautiful! I’d also love a tutorial on your technique. We’d also love for you to link this up at our party! http://housewivesofriverton.blogspot.com/2012/10/riverton-housewives-round-up-35.html
Would love to see a video. I love the coffee table. Isn’t it amazing how different they look when you paint and distress them? I think I was waxing the whole piece and then coming back to buff. Obviously not the way to go! Will try your way nextime.
Love the coffee table. I will be featuring it tonight at my Fall into Fall party that opens at 8pm EST. Please stop by and pick up an I’ve Been Featured button. Thanks.
Love it! I have painted several things in Old White. Can’t get enough of that stuff. lol. You did a great job distressing. Just beautiful. Visiting from Primp. Would love it if you would share this at my Make it Pretty Monday party at The Dedicated House. http://thededicatedhouse.blogspot.com/2012/10/make-it-pretty-monday-week-18.html Hope to see you at the bash! Hi Liz Marie. I am visiting from Miss Mustard Seed. I just finished a desk with regular water based paint and then found a dealer in my little town who carries ASP. I purchased some AS dark wax from her and put it on the desk. Although I’m not terribly unhappy with it, my question is would the AS wax go on differently on the AS paint? I have two pine pieces that I will use AS paint on and want to know if the dark wax will work better on those. It colored the white paint a little too dark and streaky. Did I use too much?. I want to be REALLY happy with these two dressers..Thanks so much and I will look forward to your video..Happy Tuesday..Judy
Most definitely I would love to see the how to:)
Wow–what a beautiful piece! That is quite a transformation! I have four young daughters and we just painted 4 chairs together–our first attempt at something like that. Posts like these are what inspired us to try! Thanks!
I would love to see a video
I would love to see the video on how you restored your table. I love it!
Would love to see the details/video. Love the distress look
Hi Lisa, I just wanted to say I love your website !
