I hope you are all having an amazing Holiday week! I am having the best time in the mitten catching up with family and friends & celebrating Christmas with the ones we love. We have been so busy since we have been on vacation that I feel like I don’t even have time to sit on my computer besides late at night when I should be catching up on sleep. But I can’t stay away from you guys… ever, so I will make the time no matter what to talk, share and inspire you even when I’m busy and needing sleep.. because I love you
Plus I have some awesome news to share with you this week so stay tuned for that!! Today I wanted to share with you the lovely nightstands in our master bedroom that I painted….
& the nightstands before…
Both of these pieces were bought at a local antique store near our house, but at different times. I wanted two different nightstands that didn’t match, but I wanted to make them uniform with the color and finish. I love how this pair works in our room…
The color I used for these nightstands is Urbane Bronze by Sherwinn Williams. It’s a beautiful warm brown with gray undertones. I used Annie Sloans dark wax over these pieces to seal them. I love how the distressing and dark wax accented the beautiful color by Sherwinn Williams perfectly to give it that rustic touch…
The knobs on this piece were wooden {as seen in the before picture} & I used Rub n’ buff to make them the gold finish. You can see more on that {here}.
Seriously this is one of my new favorite colors.. I’m sure you will see many more pieces {maybe rooms} in this color. It’s not brown, it’s not gray, it’s not black, it’s Urbane Bronze & I am officially obsessed! What do you think of this color & the nightstands? Have you used this color before? Share your thoughts in the comments below, Facebook me, Tweet me, Instagram me, & as always… Talk to you soon!

Hi Liz, I love how they turned out!! I’m also in love with the color … this has inspired me for a new project at home!!
I’ve got one question: did you do the distressing before or after the wax? I always doubt about that step
Well, the whole room is so beautiful!! looking forward to seemore!!
Hi Eladia!! I’m so glad you were inspired!! I usually distressing before.. It is completely preference, but that’s how I like to do it. You will find what you like best and what works best for you. Thank you so so much for your sweet comment!! xx Liz Marie
Thank you for the tip! I’ll let u know how my project turned out!!
xx Eladia
Love them Liz! The nightstands turned out so well.
I am also obsessed with Urbane Bronze. We painted our basement family room UB. I love it. It’s so warm looking.

Thank you so much for sharing!! I love that color in your basement!! It looks great. Thank you for your sweet compliment!!
LOVE the color!!! They are beautiful!!! I too would love to get similar nightstands, but they aren’t on the top of the To-Do list right now, however.. I LOVE how yours came out.. fabulous job!!! ~Bre
Thank you Bre! I am excited for you to get some nightstands like this.. they are by far my favorite thing ever.. such great storage.. very practical!!
Hi Liz! I love your night stands! When you paint with house paint, are you turning it into your chalk paint by adding unsanded grout? Or do you just use regular paint?
Hi Heather! For these pieces I used regular paint, but I do use my homemade chalk paint quite often.. I will try to include in every post if I used that recipe or not. But again for this one.. I didn’t even prime, I just simply painted with the paint straight from the can
This is definitely a go-to color and the two dressers look great together in the space! Another great makeover! I think I caught an idea of your announcement not too long ago from another comment. If it is what I think it is, you’re in for a lot of fun, little sleep, and putting that school work to good use! Hmmmm….
Hi Anneke!!! You are too funny
You may just be exactly right!! & ummmmm I am going to try to announce in the next few days.. I can’t wait to tell!!! & thank you so much.. I want to tell everyone about this color!!! I can’t wait to share with you!!!
I have never used that color but it is outstanding! The night stands rock!!! Great work!!!
Thank you sooo sooo much Nicole!! I’m glad you love the color and the nightstands!
I love them!
I’ve been looking for small dressers like these to replace my night stands. They are beautiful! Sharing on my FB page…♥
Thank you so much Desiree!!! Seriously this was the best thing ever for storage.. and for looks! I’m going to look where you shared now
Thank you for that!!
Oh I love it!!! So much! That color is just great and I lvoe how the pieces coordinate but don’t actually match exactly!
I love the color! I also have 2 mismatched nightstands and this may be just the color they need! Thanks for the inspiration!
Love them! Love the color! It looks great with the boards you placed behind the bed too! I have got to try that color/ dark wax… along with the buff stuff too. Happy New Year to you! Michele M
They turned out gorgeous! I haven’t tried this color, but am very intrigued. I love the dresser look instead of nightstands. I am not a fan of the traditional nightstands either. Thanks for sharing! -K
Well! Big shock! I love these too!!!! Love this color!!! It’s official! Operation: duplicate LMB master is underway! Our entire master bedroom suite sold on Craigslist today! So. Our mattress is on the floor and our clothes in Rubbermaid tubs! But I have cash moola in my pocket ready to go thrifting!!! Hooray! These are fabulous! Great job! Have fun at home!
Ps : was there ever a tutorial on that wood wall????? Cause I’m gonna need to know what you did!!!!!

I adore your night stands Liz. You completely nailed the color and how you distressed them and used the dark wax! And, I also have to say, I love that they are not identical. I don’t know why that makes me love them so much more, but I guess it just shows that you don’t have to start out with the same matching pieces to end up with the most amazing results ever. You rock girl!
Happy New Years!
Jaime
I love that the nightstands and mirrors go together but aren’t perfectly matched!!! Gotta love rub n buff….
beautiful!
i couldn’t pin this fast enough!! LOVE it!!!!
Call me crazy, but everytime I look at these pictures they look almost as if the color is ‘blueish’ .. Is it just the picture? .. I love the color.. I just recently purchased an antique buffet off of a flea market page on facebook and I’m thinking about this color! .. with the rub n buff.. The gold knobs make this look complete! I love it. You did an amazing job!
Love what you did with the dressers! I agree with the other comments. You did a wonderful job and so smart to use small dressers for storage instead of nightstands. I’ll be on the lookout for something similar. Thank you for sharing:)
I love the color of your nightstands!
I love them. You and Interiors by Kenz have convinced me to give this color a whirl.
The nightstands look great – I do like that Urbane Bronze color. What does it look like without the Annie Sloan wax?
Ooohhh! Love this color, especially with the gold knobs!
Just love your night stands. I’ve been looking for inspiration and have just found it I live in the U.K I hope I can get the ‘colour’
Did you use Grecian gold on the mirrors? I saw that’s what you used on the green dresser knobs. I love the color and may want to redo my rub n buff project http://www.julieblanner.com/2012/09/diy-gilded-frames.html
Great color. I love the look.
I’m liking on MMS link party.

Gorgeous! I love the color and the gold knobs.
Love the mismatched look – with the mirrors above! Your entire bedroom is gorgeous!

Beautiful! Is there a specific step-by step process you follow in the distressing? I have attempted distressing wood before and it doens’t turn out as nicely as yours. Please let me know your secret!
Hi Liz! LOVE these. The colors are awesome and they look so great in your bedroom. I featured this idea on my blog this week! Come on over and check it out and grab a button if you like! http://www.missloviecreations.blogspot.com/2013/03/my-favorite-things-thursday-10-home.html So glad I found your blog, too! Fantastic ideas. Following!
Before you paint your furniture, do you take the original finish off or do you just prime it and go?
