Sometimes color can be scary, & sometimes we need some inspiration for
using color in our own homes. That is why I wanted to start this new series
on the blog all about using color in our homes & ways we can bring color into
our spaces from accessories to paint, from affordable to more expensive.
The first color up is turquoise. The color turquoise is blue with yellow in it
giving it a blue green tone. It can be light or dark, more green or more yellow.
It gives off peace, calm and tranquility of blue and the balance and
growth of green with the uplifting energy of yellow. That being said,
It’s pretty much the perfect color…

turquoise backsplash behind the stove.
This very soft turquoise island is dreamy & is a less bold way of adding

Ruth
I’m so glad you love all the spaces Ruth!! I agree the appliances are awesome!! If you are turquoise fanatic, they are a must!
I absolutely love turquoise in any shade! All of the rooms you featured were fun + inspirational! What type of paint would you recommend using on dressers/furniture that wont chip or peel? Is it necessary to sand the furniture prior?
Hi Athena.. I would use a satin or flat. As far as sanding it differs from piece to piece, but not knowing what you are working on I would say that you should at least lightly sand and prime before you paint.. Hope that helps!! & thank you for your sweet comment!
Thanks for your response! I am considering creating a fun look with my coffee table, which is made of real wood. I have never really sanded/primed any furniture in the past but I’m willing to give it a try! I can definitely see how that would ensure that the color hold up. Do you have any suggestions for creative designs on furniture made of wood, such as chevron patterns? Have you done any tutorials on things like that?
P.S. I love your blog!

Can I just say how much I love how fresh your ideas are? You have really great style. This is so my color but I haven’t been able to incorporate into my decor like I’d like to. I have to work with tiled living room walls and textured walls that my husband added before I came along and I’m having a hard time giving it that fresh feel. I’m working on it though. Love so many of these ideas! Keep inspiring me, I’ll get there:)
