Thrifted Vanity Chair Makeover

PicMonkey CollageHi friends!! I am so excited about this weeks “thrift it” challange. Tomorrow marks the first day of the
“Thrift it” challenge linky party, so be sure to come back and link up all old & new posts
about your thrifty finds and makeovers! You can go {here} to learn more about the linky party.
For my “thrift it” challenge I made over this lovely little vanity chair. I actually got this chair from
my awesome neighbors. They let me come over and dig through their thrifty goods that they didn’t
want & I scored this awesome chair among some other great things.

This chair needed a lot of TLC with that worn out cloud fabric and the blue tassel trim.
I did decide to keep some of the old style and add some new white tassel
trim. This chair was pretty easy to re-do here are some items
I used to give this chair a whole new look…

PicMonkey CollageAfter removing all of the fabric from the chair & the old tassel trim, I simply took the entire
chair apart and spray painted all the parts with the gold spray paint. While that was drying
I covered the old padding with the new white fabric I had leftover from another project.
I used my trusty staple gun to put the fabric on the old seat. I can’t say this enough..
I am not an upholsterer, but I am learning along the way ;) After stapling the fabric
on the board, I actually hot glued the tassel trim around the seat cushion & layered
the tassel trim on the back of the chair as well for an added element of drama.

This chair was just going to be thrown in the trash because it wasn’t
looking so hot & needed a lot of love…

But, spray paint can make such a huge difference. So the next time you
are at your local thrift store, don’t pass up a cute little chair like
this & remember with just a little TLC it can be a cute addition to your home.

my vanity closet which you can see {here}. What do you think of this little
chair? Have you thrifted anything great before? I would love to see it!

  1. That is so so so cute! I love the gold and the fringe. I actually found a chair very similar to this at our local thrift store for $15 and did a similar makeover but it was striped…and therefore a little tedious. (http://bit.ly/UWbqPp) I want a picture of this by your vanity!

  9. This is so cute, I love the tassel trim you chose! I actually just picked up something very similar at an estate sale and am going to recover it for my nursery. Good call on the spray paint. I was thinking about trying to clean up the brass on the legs but I think they are too far gone. I’ll try spray painting them instead! :-)

    • O cool!! I hope your chair comes out just how you want it… & yes! I took the easy way out for sure and spray painted.. it was so quick and easy. Fastest DIY ever! I would love if you linked up your chair when you were finished on the facebook page so I could see it!! Have fun xx
