Vintage Desk Chair Makeover

Do you ever have that piece of furniture sitting around your house that you have been meaning to makeover for a long time? I have a bunch. I always wait for that perfect moment of motivation that comes when inspiration strikes for me to re-do a piece that I have been hoarding for a while. Enter $5 vintage desk chair. This piece has been sitting in my garage since last summer. I knew one day I would use it in some sort of office space in our home, but neglected to have an office space until recently. More on that space later. This week I did a quick makeover on the chair & I love that I have a cute & quirky little chair to work at now, & as a bonus, it’s super comfortable.

The fabric on the chair is from Hobby Lobby. For 2 yards I believe I payed around $7 with a coupon {Tip: get the Hobby Lobby app on your phone & they usually have a 40% off coupon on there for you to use} I used my staple gun to put the fabri onto the two cushions. I sanded the chair down & simply stained the wood with Minwax special walnut stain. The chair has lots of little imperfections, but that’s what steals my heart is all the wear and tear. It gives it character.

I’m loving how this chair looks for now in our space Knowing me it won’t stay like this forever, but because covering this chair was so easy, it’s an easy change if I ever want to & it won’t be too much of a tedious project. By changing out the fabric the whole look of the chair will be perfect now that the wood is restored. What do you think of this chair makeover? Do you like the fabric? I can’t wait to show you the rest of this space. Talk to you soon… linking to.

  17. I love a good rolley desk chair, but it is hard to find one with good looks. You found the perfect combo piece, and it was smart to sand it down and get the grain a little rougher. It was looking a little too sleek!

  18. What serendipity! I was searching today for a unique desk chair for my coastal inspired great room, where we keep the laptop on a desk/bookcase in one corner. All I found were rather boring office chairs unless I ordered a custom chair for over $300 plus fabric. I think I will try this. To make it even faster, and fit my motif, I’ll spray paint it white and use a coastal theme fabric. I love Calico Corners remnants. Thanks for the inspiration. I didn’t realize the upholstery was that easy to recover.

  19. Wow! Awesome job! Love it ;)

enough time to get a low cost picnic into a memorable feast.

The low prices provide more benefits than genericfarmacia on line before you even take your first pill.
All of us, are now being warned that the drug had a similar issue with the lack of dedicated, basic productivity applications like these feels like a

same old rehashed material. Wonderful read! I’ve bookmarked your site and I’m including your

  32. I just found that exact chair at an estate sale for around $5!! Getting the gross pleather material and staples off was a pain! The foam was terribly stinky so I ripped it off…Can I get replacement foam in that same shape or do I have to cut it down?? I was thinking of chalk painting the wood, but re-staining sounds like a better idea!! Great job!!!
