Cake Stand Kitchen Organizer

kay. So I have been a tad bit obsessed with making these cupcake stands forever now ever since I realized you can glue a candlestick to the bottom of a metal tray & make a sassy little stand. I made one a while back {here} for our bathroom & they are so handy. I wanted to make one for our kitchen to hold hand soap, dish soap, & a bowl full of wash cloths to reduce the  amount of paper towels we use. This is probably the easiest, quickest DIY you can do, but it adds some cute and quirky decor to your kitchen & makes life a little easier & cleaner. & of course you do not need to use it for holding kitchen supplies, you can use it as an actual cake holder if that’s what you are in to ;)

To create the stand, I first spray painted the dollar store candle holder & metal tray with this Krylon Oil Rubbed bronze. I’m a little obsessed with this finish lately, you can see the fan I just used this spray paint on {here}. After the paint dried I used this scotch super glue that I found in the dollar section at Target & put it around the rim of the candle stick. I placed the center of the try on top of the candlestick & placed the spray paint on top of the try for weight & allowed the glue to try. Voila there is your cake stand. The Meyers clean day dish soap & hand soap are from Target as well as the bowl. The clearance section got me again!! Gosh I love Target. It’s my happy place. Ps. This radish scented soap is yummy, I would have guessed otherwise.

Do you guys have a stand like this in your kitchen? What do you use yours for? I have really been enjoying mine & also I have wanted to start hand washing the dishes more & using my dishwasher less. I like the simplicity of it all. What do you guys think? Chat with me in the comments below, on Instagram, or on Facebook, I would love to connect with you. Talk to you soon!

  1. Cuuuute! I’m definitely trying this :)

  2. Love the look, will have to try this.

  3. I love it! Looks great! But hell no to hand washing dishes more! I do handwash some things that I don’t want to put in there, but I will stick with my dishwasher!

  4. I like this idea! Very cute but affordable!! Just pinned this.

  5. When will you be posting instructions for your DIY Rustic TV Console?

  6. I have done the same thing only with a martini glass instead of a candle stick- love it!

  7. I recently used the exact same candlestick & metal tray combo. I went for a three-tiered stand to hold some jewelry and perfume. Love it. I’m going to have to make one for the kitchen too!

  8. We’ve been living without a dishwasher for 7 years… I don’t think you’d want to wash them by hand if you had too! LOL :) And, one thing I never really thought of was that the dishwasher hides the dirty dishes while they are waiting to be washed. Oh, how I miss the dishwasher!!! :) The stand is super cute. I think I will make one for our kitchen sink too!!!

  9. Very lovely, and cheap! I so need this too!

  10. I seriously need to make one of these to put next to my sink! Cute and practical.

  11. What a great idea! I think I will need to do this! If you get a chance, please share this on my linky party: http://suburbsmama.blogspot.com/2013/05/sunday-link-party-7.html

I LOVE these! We make them with E-6000 glue and glass plates & candlesticks from Dollar Tree! I have one on the bathroom sink holding handmade goat milk soaps, and one by my sewing maching holding thread and pincushions. I stack a smaller one onto a larger one ( I made two with different sized glass plates.), and pile them both with fruit as a centerpiece. My favorite part is that they save SO much counter space!

  13. I love this! I’m going to pin it! Thanks for sharing!

I saw this idea before, forgot about it, and now you’ve just reminded me, so thank you :) I love this little trick! You can display so many things this way. I’m thinking it’d make a nice decor piece on an end table or coffee table to hold books/magazines that we’re currently reading!

  18. i definitely need something like this..

  19. So cute! Love this idea to keep things contained. I’m visiting from Craft-O-Maniac.

  20. So cute Liz!

  21. I’m so jealous you found the nickle plated trays. I’ve been to four dollar tree stores and they are no where to be found.

  22. I Love this! I really dislike my standard bottle of soap on my kitchen sink, i always try to hide it but really it needs to be out so I can use it. This is happening in my kitchen this week, thank you!

  23. I have a mini cake stand next to my sink and I LOVE it! It really does keep things tidy around the sink. I love that you got crafty and made yours!

I’m popping over from Happy Hour!

  24. That looks so great! Love the coordinating Meyers products and bowl.

  27. This is a great way to organize sink necessities! Super cute!

  28. Ah! This looks so fun, and cute ! Your site is bordering on addictive lol ! So many awesome DIY projects !
    Keep em coming :)

  29. Love the stand. I never would have guess it was made from those items! And I love how coordinated all your washing supplies are.

Even with all the cuteness and craftiness, I’m not sure it would make me love dishwashing. But cupcakes, that’s another story.

  30. It’s the best time to make some plans for the future and it’s
time to be happy. I’ve read this post and if I could
I desire to suggest you some interesting
things or suggestions. Perhaps you could write next articles referring to this article.

I want to read even more things about it!
