Target Table Makeover & The Best Bronze Spray Paint!

Around Christmas time I was walking through Target with my Starbucks & I spotted this lovely red metal side table that I fell in love with. It was so cheery & if I was a cool person who switched my side tables out for the seasons or if I had one ounce of red in my home decor, I would have bought it. But since neither was true I went on my merry way. Fast forward a few weeks later after Christmas & I’m walking through Target again with my starbucks in hand & that same red table is staring me in the eye & this time it has a magical red clearance sticker on it. Are you kidding? How can I pass up this beautiful table for just $20. As much as I loved the red, I knew it was going to get a little makeover. It just had to happen to fit in our casa. I knew exactly where this little table was going to go too, our corner in our living room with the lovely corner gallery wall

So there is the little table all finished! I’m loving it in this little reading corner. O, & there is a sneak peek at our new slipcovers. No more white! More on that later. For those of you wondering, the lamp is from Lowes & it’s my new favorite thing too!

Target side table makeover & the best spray paint ever -

The best bronze spray paint for any DIY project!!

So, there is the whole process. Seriously this makeover was so easy! I give most of the credit to my favorite bronze spray paint. I have a crush on the rust-oluem metallic spray paint in oil rubbed bronze. In my opinion it’s the best bronze spray paint for any DIY project & that’s proven to me by how many empty cans of this I have in my garage. ;)  After using 3M scotch blue tape & a plastic bag to cover the wood top, I sprayed a layer on the outside. After the first layer dried I put another layer on & flipped the table over and repeated the same thing for the inside. I love how easy this stuff goes on & how quickly it covers what you need painted. The finish of the spray paint is matte with slight metallic shimmer, which is usually what I am looking for in a bronze spray paint. One other BIG thing for us impatient people, it dries very quickly! That’s a must. I realized how much I grabbed for this color in all of my DIY projects {I have two more projects that I worked on this weekend that I used this spray paint for too} So of course I had to share this gem with you. Have you used this spray paint before? What are your thoughts? Here is our little corner of the living room before the table & after…

I think it adds a little something something to this little space & it’s so handy! We typically use this spot for blogging/reading/homework, so to have a spot to set things is very handy. O, & I also realized there was a HUGE update to our coffee table that I haven’t shared yet… Can’t wait to show you!

  1. I love it! I did my first spray paint project this summer. I found 2 huge pots that were a weird beigy grey ( not the pretty kind

  2. I’ve used that spray paint and I love it too! This is such a great little corner. It’s so cozy and personal with the gallery. Love it.

  3. Very cute! That corner looks so darn cozy!

  4. Glenda Suzie says:

I agree about the spray paint. I used the exact same paint on two thrift store lamp bases and some old wooden candle sticks. That was a year ago and they still look fabulous. I have a couple of new projects lined up for that paint :)

  5. Ahhh! This looks SO great! I fell in love with that red table when I saw it too, and even though it was on clearance I couldn’t convince my guy that we had room for it in our apartment. I DID score two really great wooden bed side tables that were in the same clearance section! A mix of dark wood/wrought iron for 50% off! Lovee. Now I’m wishing I’d gotten this table ;) didn’t even think of a makeover.

  6. Liz, it completely finishes off the room! I think with the little makeover it now suits your style perfectly. :)

  7. Our Target had the same table, but in the color that you spray painted yours just before Christmas. I was lucky enough to get mine on clearance too. Thankfully there was no need to spray paint mine, cause that wouldn’t be happening. LOL. I love ours. When I saw them come out with the red one, I thought it would be neat for Christmas, but Christmas ONLY. Never once thought to buy it and spray paint it to match the one I already had. I never think outside the box. Love your little area. I can’t wait till you share your new slipcovers. Hope it’s soon. ;)

  8. Like I said on facebook, you have such vision! It is perfect! I love that you recommended a good spray paint too because I had some Krylon metallic spray and wasn’t sure if it would be good for furniture….looks like Rust-Oleum is a much better choice when I find a treasure piece to re-do! ;)

  9. Love that little side table! This is my favorite bronze spray paint, too! My most recent project using this paint was my outdoor light fixtures. They were very faded and previously bronze. I gave them 2 quick coats of this paint and they look incredible!

  10. OMG! I bought this same exact red table and painted mine white, however I think mine was only on clearance for $32 or something like that. I love your version with the black spray paint. I know how good it will look if I ever change my mind.

  11. Holy cow. I just bought the same table Friday night! It was less than $20 with my Target card!
I sprayed mine a bronze-y gold color and it looks so great!!!
    Love how yours turned out:)

  12. I scored a great rustic end table with wood top and bronze legs right after Chrtsimas on clearance from Target for $22! Couldn’t believe it and it’s perfect next to our reading chair. Love your update- I’ve been looking for a table like that- with that kind of price tag.

  13. Oh man! Now I am going to run to all the Targets in my area! I love your makeover!!!

  14. What a cute NIFTY THRIFTY little table. Hop on over and share it at my party…I’m sure it will be a big hit.

  15. Casey Holt says:

Absolutely love this creation. The whole thing! & I HAVE to know where you got the chaise chair?!! :)

  16. I love Rustoleum products!!!! The spray paints, stains and ureathanes are great simply because they dry so quickly and they cover well. I don’t have a lot of time to watch paint dry so the Rustoleum products are great for our projects. This is a great makeover. I do love Target especially their clearance sections.

  17. L❤️ve the table redo but more importantly-where the adorbs reading lamp come from??

  18. I never would have thought to buy a table brand new to make it over, but for only $20 what a deal! And it looks awesome!

  19. Love your little table! ORB is definitely an awesome paint. I use it lots too.

  20. Love love love your table makeover. Fits that corner perfectly.

Target can have some awesome clearance finds. My hubby brought me home a surprise a couple weeks ago — a star marquee light from there. Originally $15; he paid $3 and change.

  21. this is amazing! visiting via MMS and hope you’ll visit me back:

p.s. loving the rustic gallery wall(s)!

  22. I know the post is about the table, which is adorable, but I LOVE your gallery wall! Especially the pallet wood plaque with the deer. How creative! I would love for you to share some of your great home ideas at my link party. The very first one is this Friday, Jan31st at Hope to see you there!

  23. Love the Target table makeover! Target has come to Canada and I am excited to start scoring some deals for myself and my home!
