The Kitchen Tour – North Carolina House February 2014

Wow! I can’t believe I have never blogged the kitchen before. Actually I can. Upon “unofficially” putting our house up for sale last week I noticed that I had no photos of our kitchen. The reason? Well, we have never really done any work in the kitchen. For the past year we have known we were going to move out of the house so we have not made many changes to this space. We did add the beadboard backsplash a while back & painted the space from gray to cream, but that is about it. I will blog a few before & afters in a separate post to show the changes since we have lived in this house. I woke up the other morning  inspired to take some quick photos of the kitchen just the way it was. No changes, no staging, just the way I woke up with the morning sun coming in the window & please excuse the fact that you can’t see the pendant over the sink because of all the brightness, I will show that to you later too. Just picture a vintage school house light there & you won’t be missing anything. Have it pictured? Well, here we go on the long awaited kitchen tour…

The cabinets & the granite were both original to when we built the house & so is the flush mount light & the appliances. The DIY basket pendants are a DIY that you can see {here}. The mason jar kitchen organizer can be found {here}. The milk jug artwork is a DIY from a while back that I will be blogging soon. That sign above the sink? Yah, I made that & never blogged it. Tutorial coming soon. What do you think of the space? I plan on making a few changes before we sell the house & I will update you on that soon. Have any questions or comments? I would love to hear from you! Leave me a comment below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram. To see more of our North Carolina home go {here}.

Want to see our kitchen in our Michigan house that we are re-doing? Click {here} or the photo below. We will be starting the major work on this space very soon {mostly from afar here in NC} updates & our plans for the space coming soon.

  1. Love your kitchen, especially the pendants!
I know you’re from MI and moving back this fall, but are you from GR? I am, and I’m attempting to blog, with 2 little boys it’s hard to find a lot of time! But, it’s even harder to find local bloggers. :) Enjoy your somewhat warmer weather down south!

  2. Love all the Michigan touches! We’re a mitten family over here in the process of moving down to NC! :)

    • I love the Michigan touches, too! We’re a mitten family that’s been in NC for about a decade now. My heart belongs to both states now :)

  3. I love your kitchen — I’m going to go find a tray for my coffee things! Love the cotton display, too, very NC.

  4. I love the cotton display. Being from the Raleigh area, there was not much cotton to be found around here. This year, I am heading east to find some for our home. Beautiful space! Good luck on seeling your home.

  5. This kitchen makes me love wood cabinets. I’ve always been a white kitchen girl but I love how you played off the wood, balancing with white and texture throughout. I’m really in love and will be pinning this to my kitchen pinterest collection. This will be the first kitchen with wood cabinets that I’ve fallen for. Thanks!

  6. I love how bright your kitchen is! Looking forward to a house tour at your new home!

  7. I love the basket pendants. Very cute kitchen!

  8. You have a beautiful kitchen. I love your stools and your pendants. :)

  9. I just adore those bunny mugs! And I’m swooning over the cotton and bar stools! So dreamy! xo

  10. Your kitchen looks very clean and inviting. There is a simplicity about it that is very welcoming. I love the round tray in the corner with the lamp, picture and greenery on it. Did you buy or make it. I have pinned a similar DIY one that I am about to attempt.

  11. I love the simplicity of your kitchen. I also love the round tray with the lamp on it. Where do you find it or did you DIY? You are going to have so much fun coming up with ideas and fixing up your new home.

  12. Where did you find the wood Michigan cut out? I have a friend who would love it.

  13. LOVE your kitchen, by the way!

  14. Ann Dempsey says:

    Hi Liz Marie.
Can’t wait to see what you do with your new home. I know you will keep us posted!
Just curious what the exterior of the home in Michigan is like. Would love to see that when and if you get a chance. Your curb appeal of your home in NC is wonderful-very attractive!

  15. so excited for you to move back to MI! and i can not wait to see the changes in the new house!

  16. I love your kitchen! It’s so beautiful!
