New Year… New Booth!

Happy New Year… again. Ok, I’ve said it enough here on the blog & I’m done now for those of you getting annoyed of hearing it, but I’m excited {and slightly scared} of all the changes happening right away in 2015. One exciting change that has happened this past week is we moved to a new booth inside Painted Farm Girl here in Michigan. Some of you might be thinking, “Didn’t you just move into your other booth a month ago?” & the answer is yes, we actually knew we were going to be moving to this new booth when we moved into the other one & we were just waiting for our new spot to open up. So, in the midst of recovering from the flu I somehow found the energy this past week to paint the new booth, clean the booth, move all our stuff into it, DIY a new ceiling, decorate the new space, & more. Of course that didn’t leave me a whole lot of time on top of family time, the new year, & parties to create lots of new stuff, but the Grand Opening for our new booth is today {January 5th} & I wanted to share the good news with you & give those who are able to visit a heads up!

Many of you have asked a lot of questions about Painted Farmgirl where our booth is located & I wanted to answer a few for you. Painted Farmgirl is an indoor marketplace with 45+ vendors inside who sell antiques, handmade items, refurbished furniture, home decor, jewelry, clothing, accessories, baby items, & so much more. Our booth is open everyday that the store is open & is constantly filling up with new goods weekly. Painted Farmgirl is open daily {Mon-Sat} 10-6pm & is in Hudsonville Michigan off of Chicago drive. There will be a new website & blog coming soon that will have posts, updates, & more on it which will be really fun as well & explain & show the marketplace off more as well. Anyways after painting & moving into our new space, here it is!

& maybe you are not impressed by the way the booth looks or think it looks like we didn’t do a whole lot of work & I can help change your mind! Here is a little “before” photo of the booth…

& after a lot of hard work…

Wow! Such a big change. The walls were covered in paper that was stapled onto the walls & after that was removed {my amazing aunt who also has a booth at Painted Farmgirl kindly removed the paper for me while I had the flu last week… So awesome to live by our amazing family!} After the paper was down I painted it a dark gray at the top & left the bottom of the wall a creamy white. We put in a jute rug from RugsUSA & also covered the entire ceiling in burlap to cover the damaged drop tile ceiling. Such a great transformation! Here is a little closer look at the before & after of the ceiling after we stapled up some fabric over the ceiling…

Oh man. I kind of want to sit in this room with a cup of coffee & hang out. It turned out to be really cozy spot & I’m really excited about our new space. This new booth is also inspiring me to create more & even paint more which is something I didn’t do a whole lot of while I was living in our historic rental in NC so I’m really excited about that too. What do you guys think about the new booth? & to all my Michigan friends, have you been able to visit Painted Farmgirl yet? I will be stopping at the booth tomorrow if you are in the area I would love to see you! Let me know your thoughts in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram!

I love your new space!! Of course, we all already knew of your gorgeous home style but it’s fun to see how you can transform such a dismal spot. I am such a fan of antique malls. I live in St. Louis, MO and often stop in them, sometimes for inspiration for an area I’m decorating in my home. I had so much fun styling my Christmas mantle this year via antique malls. But usually there are only a couple individual booths like yours in this mall. I always gravitate to those booths first. If you were nearby, you’d be first on my list. I’m certain you will have a very productive business. Best of luck!

So adorable!!! I seriously wish we had something in my town like this, I only can sell online and am going to start selling in a friends store in town, but to have my own little space would be great!!! You are only 2 hours from me, and I love GR maybe I’ll have to stop by sometime!!! ~Kim

Wow! Liz- this looks awesome! I have to come check this out in person! Isn’t it crazy that Painted Farmgirl used to be Jerry’s Country Inn? It brings me back to High school! 🙂

Awe if only Michigan wasn’t so far away from Alabama. I would be there in a heartbeat! Such an inspiring little space, and very cleverly decorated! I think your little booth will do quite well!

Love your new space, too bad you are a bit far away from me. We do have a similar place here in Chicago, actually on the North Side in Andersonville, with a lot of booth spaces and your booth looks lovely.
    Good Luck and happy selling….

I am assuming your gallery works like ours here, you do not have to be there personally, people can buy items even when you are not present correct. I think this is a lovely idea and I wish you all the success possible.
I often go to our Galleria in Andersonville when I am looking for a gift for someone and I want to find something either handmade or just simply different.
    Again good Luck

Your booth looks amazing! And yes a nice warm cup of tea in there would be very cozy and relaxing. I’m in Canada so I won’t really be able to stop in but your mix looks awesome! Good luck and all the best!

Amazing job on your new space! You must have worked so hard. I am looking to do something similar where I live NH. I am also a military wife, my husband is leaving in less than a month for a year long deployment. To keep myself busy (and to start a second career) while he’s gone, I want to start my own line. I was wondering what your first steps were in renting a booth? I have re-done many pieces, and I am now selling them on craigslist, but I would like to make something more of this ‘hobby”. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It looks great, congratulations! My dream is to have my own space one day… I’m on a waiting list but I don’t know if it’ll ever happen.

Your booth is fabulous and so inviting! I love the mint dresser, white desk, wodden box with numbered jars as well as all of your other treasures. I wish I lived remotely close to Michigan, I’d love to see it in person! Best wishes for much success at The Painted Farmgirl, looks like you’re off to a great start!

I’ve been following you on Facebook and Pinterest for a few years now. I’m so excited to check out your booth. My daughter lives in Hudsonville and I will be visiting her in early February. Your booth makeover looks amazing!

This looks so great! I have been thinking of looking for a booth as well as we just moved to CT a few months ago. Do you have any suggestions on how to search for rentable areas? Good luck your space is amazing!!

Gourgeous!!! I LOVE how you softened the glaring flourescent lights. I wish I could buy every thing in the booth. I LOVE the mirrors, chairs, tables/desk and little wood box in front of the top mirror, sitting on a black catalogue box(?). Can you tell me what it is? I am a city girl. Wishing you an abundance of customers. I am happy to hear that you are recovering from the flu. I have found the older I get the more difficult it is to get rid of things you don’t want and accumulate things you do, like bank interest, LOL.

Woah! I’m really digging the template/theme on this
site. It’s simple, yet effective. A great deal of times it’s challenging to obtain that “perfect balance” between superb usability and appearance.

I have to admit that you’ve done a amazing job using this type of.
Furthermore, the blog loads extremely fast for me
    on Firefox. Exceptional Blog!
