Farmhouse style slipcovered dining chairs

Hey! I went shopping for you again. If you have a hard time finding things from chairs, to dressers, to wreaths, & beyond.. I love doing these shopping posts for you guys because I’m always looking online for these items so I might as well share them! Today we got some of our dining room chairs in the mail that I will be blogging about very soon, but I wanted two accent slipcovered dining chairs to have at the ends of the dining table so I went hunting online & found some that I like. Some of the ones I share above are simply just the slipcovers & some are the full chair & slipcover combo. If you are needing a chair to put the slipcovers on, I really like [these] from World Market.  I love the slipcovered look to add texture & coziness to a space & also to break up all the wood & metal I tend to use in my spaces. I have personally had the world market ones shown above & the Ikea ones & love them both. I may just stick with the classics or break it up a little. You can shop the chairs with my affiliate links listed above or click on the individual photos of the chairs to go directly to the website. How do you guys feel about slipcovered dining chairs? Do you have them in your home?

Here are the World Market slipcovered chairs [here] in our last house & I still love them so! We are now using them at our desk which I will share later on the blog, but who knows we might end up with the same ones again for our new dining room. Updates to come! Be sure to follow me on Facebook & Instagram for first looks at all our rooms & new changes & as always, THANK YOU for stopping by my blog daily to see what we are up to. xx

Happy Friday!! I wanted to start your weekend off with a little online shopping post because who doesn’t love ending a long week with some retail therapy? Want to know what inspired today’s blog post?! The fact that our house is tore up & I can’t decorate or accessorize so I thought I would live through you guys & find you some amazing decor.. how does that sound? I’m not complaining at all, but you guys! I’m itching to decorate our new farmhouse! I am having a lot of fun with demo & painting [you can see more by clickinig here], but decorating is going to be the icing on the cake. I wanted to find some lovely & simple farmhouse inspired items so I naturally went to my favorite, Target, & found some amazing farmhouse decor that I really loved & compiled them all for you today in one post. I love everything from that white pitcher that is perfect for floral in any season to the farmhouse wall clock to the cozy pouf & throw. I want it all! I’m thinking that scale would look amazing on our coffee table so I might just have to go ahead and get that. Anyways…. I wanted to share my online shopping adventure with you from my late night web browsing. I hope you love this farmhouse decor as much as me & be sure to follow me on Facebook & Instagram to see what I end up getting from this list. Thank you, as always, for stopping by my little blog. Gray Nursery Reveal

Gray Nursery - Shared boys room style
First I want to say a HUGE thank you for all of the sweet comments on
yesterday’s post {here}. You guys are amazing & truly lift my spirits daily! I feel like since I started this blog a couple of years ago there has been a few posts where I talk about my friends moving away. I guess this is what happens when you are a military wife. You become best friends with other military wives & share a strong bond like none other, but there always comes a time when we have to move away from each other when our husbands change jobs or change locations. It’s rough. These friendships are so strong because we are literally each others families when our husbands are deployed, we see each other through having babies away from home, being away from family, tears, heartache, laughter, good times, literally through it all. The friendships you make as a military wife are like no other. & sadly I’m about to have to say goodbye to another one of my best friends very soon.

Christine & I have seen each other through deployments, new babies, miscarriages, hard times, good times, & lots of laughter. I have been a part of her oldest son’s life since he was born. She’s leaving in a month to live in Japan. It makes me sick to my stomach that she will no longer be here in North Carolina with me my last few months here. It makes me sad that I won’t be able to squeeze her two boys everyday, she won’t be able to come over for coffee in the morning, & our Target dates will be extra lonely with out her. She means so much to me & so does our friendship so I know it’s not goodbye.. just a see you later. Want to know how sweet she is & how much she loves her boys? She got the news that they were moving to Japan right after she was preggo & knew they were moving right after the baby was born, but still she wanted the baby to have a nursery in this house before they left even if he wouldn’t be using it. So she whipped together a temporary little nursery for baby Beckett & it’s adorable just like him. She’s not only creative when making jewelry for her Etsy shop, but everything else she touches too. We had fun styling & playing around with fun nursery things the other day & I took a few photos for her to remember the space by. This is a shared gray nursery for the baby & her oldest who is three & I thought the way the room transformed into a shared nursery was lovely. The space wasn’t necessarily “complete” because it was only temporary & they were moving, but if you ask me, I think it turned out pretty cute…

I could snuggle this baby all day. Seriously look at him! What do you think of the shared nursery? I love that the pottery barn finish of the crib and the bed really make the space work. All the shades of gray real tie everything together & this would work great for a gender neutral space as well! They will be packing up this room in the next couple of weeks & I don’t even want to talk about it. Praying for my friend & her cute little family as they go on this awesome new adventure to Japan. I hope it brings them joy & lots of new blessings. What do you think of the gray shared nursery? What is your favorite part? NC Rental – Guest Bedroom First Look

As many of you know a week ago my parents came to visit us in North Carolina. They were our first guests in our new home so the day before they came {I’m a procrastinator what can I say?} I whipped together  the guest room so that they would have a lovely space to stay. This room I have a few plans for as far as decorating the walls and getting a new dresser, changing out lamps, & of course moving some decor around. For now, this is what the space looks like a couple weeks after moving in to our rental.

This room is quite small, but it does have one massive closet & a lovely little view of the historic homes on the street below. I found that headboard in a dumpster & used items from our last middle guest bedroom to throw it all together before my parents got here. Not bad huh? I’m excited to create some art for the walls & find a new dresser for the space. I’m also thinking a rug, putting the bed skirt on, & also some curtains! I always  Let me know what you think of the space & what you would do in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram.

The Heart Of Our Home

LizJoseLifestyle-LizJoseLifestyle-0038
The kitchen is a huge staple in every household. It is the first “punch-in” for the day. We cannot start the day without walking into the kitchen and turning on the stovetop to brew the coffee and make breakfast. It’s the family launch pad for Mr. LMB and myself, and even Bear and Bella, to get together before heading out to take on the day.

LizJoseLifestyle-LizJoseLifestyle-0022

The day goes on, good or bad, and like most, we plan our evening feast, and if you do not know, we love to eat. On weeknights, as soon as we get back from work and daily chores, dinner is in the works. Chicken goes into the oven, the veggies and the much-needed “cooking snack,” a.k.a the chefs’ appetizer come out of the fridge.LizJoseLifestyle-LizJoseLifestyle-0009

As a family of two, table eaters that is (sorry pups), we sometimes eat at the dinner table; most of the time we enjoy the family meal right in the kitchen at the bar.  We consider ourselves efficient people, why take the food out of our lovely kitchen, when you have perfectly good kitchen bar with stools. We enjoy this time to officially unwind and talk about the day and what we have coming up, our GE Appliances oven makes it a quick clean up after dinner.LizJoseLifestyle-LizJoseLifestyle-0020

This is both of our favorite time of the day. As both of us are bloggers, this is the calm before the storm, when we get into our heavy blogging time, so we truly cherish dinner. Thanks to our amazing GE Appliances, we do not have to worry about anything but conversation and relaxation. We throw all of our dirty dishes in the dishwasher, and all of the leftovers fit nicely in the fridge. We whip out the laptops and chip away at the next blog post. The kitchen is really the headquarters for our family affairs and blog.LizJoseLifestyle-LizJoseLifestyle-0011

In our home the kitchen is a place for gathering with loved ones & friends. We never take our kitchen for granted & it really is the heart of our home. Do you spend a lot of time in your kitchen? Where do you usually eat your dinner? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram.

New Master Bedroom Lamps

High end look for less - lizmarieblog.com It’s been a long few months of staging our little house which has been actually not too crazy & exciting because let’s face it, when you are staging, you are neutralizing. One of the rooms we really had to neutralize was our master bedroom. Our master bedroom before was a bold rustic cottage vibe with a large wooden wall headboard as the main focal point. While neutralizing the room I also changed out some of the old accessories like the lamps. I wanted something large & chunky to replace the old metal reading lamps that were on the nightstands. Everything I found online, like this high end lamp, was way over my lamp budget, so I searched good old Target & found the same look I was going for for a lot less!

New Master Bedroom Lamps - lizmarieblog.com
Not a coincidence that our last master bedroom lamps were also from Target. But when we were neutralizing the room I just felt like these lamps were too small & with the room being so neutral & bare now I wanted more of large statement lamp. I also felt like the new lamps from Target were pretty neutral and classic & would go in our next two houses {Rental & Michigan house}. That’s my thought at least. What do you think?

New Master Bedroom Lamps - lizmarieblog.com New Master Bedroom Lamps - lizmarieblog.com
I think the higher end lamp & the target lamp look pretty similar & if you liked the studs that are on the higher end lamp you could even DIY the Target lamp & add your own studs. Super easy! & if your lamp budget is my lamp budget, I’m pretty sure I know what option you would choose 😉 Also, at Target when you buy the lamp base, you pick your own lamp shade as well so you could go with whatever pattern, texture, color, & size you like. I chose a solid linen lamp shade for this room to stay neutral of course.

I will be back later with the final master bedroom tour as part of our final “goodbye tour” of our North Carolina home. You can see the beginning of the “goodbye tour” {here}. I’ll also be back with posts on how we neutralized our home & how we sold our home so fast as well. What do you think of the new lamps? Have you seen these at Target? Which lamp do you like better their lamp or my lamp? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram! xx

Trend To Love: Dining Room Chalkboard Walls

Trend to love: Diningroom chalkboard wall - lizmarieblog.com

If there is a home decor trend that I have always loved, it is chalkboard walls in dining rooms. There is just something about the carefree feel a chalkboard adds to the space that speaks to me. A chalkboard wall can make a dining room seem more cozy & inviting with being stylish & fun. Of course like everything in home decor, it’s not for every single household, but let’s enjoy these lovely dining rooms that pulled of their dining room chalkboard walls perfectly…

NBC American Dream Builders

X0Y0-HeroGUESS WHAT?! One of my favorite designers of all time is getting his very own design show on NBC. I’m a little too excited & had to share here on the blog. I literally have design shows playing in our house all of the time whether I’m watching or just listening while I’m working on projects. I’m so excited about a new design show to get addicted to especially featuring one of my favorite designers, NATE BERKUS! I can’t be the only one who thinks everything he touches is pure gold. When he got a line at Target I nearly fainted. Target & Nate Berkus? Too good to be true. Anyways back to the show. It’s called American Dream Builders & it’s a reality show that has some of the best designers in the country re-do two homes each episode. American Dream Builders follows the nation’s top 12 designers and home builders as they compete to be crowned the Ultimate Dream Builder and take home a $250,000 cash prize. Mind blowing. Two houses being re-done in one episode, count me in! You can see a preview of the show {here}. I was hooked just by watching the previews. Speaking of the show, I was asked to create a pin board of some awesome home decor & DIY ideas; you can see the board {here}. Head on over to the board & see some of my favorite pins & as I pin more to the board so you can get inspired!

Screen Shot 2014-03-17 at 7.18.25 PM

The show starts two days before my birthday, March 23rd, & I wish we could all watch it together & pick our favorite house & designers on the first episode, but since we can’t do that because let’s face it my house couldn’t hold us all, we can watch together from a distance. Who’s with me? Who is going to be watching this lovely new show? What do you think of the concept? Leave it in the comments below & let’s chat on Instagram & Facebook when the show goes live on Sunday!

The Fiddle Leaf Fig Tree

If any of you follow me on Pinterest than you may know my serious obsession with fiddle leaf fig trees. & if any of you follow me on Instagram than you know I finally got one!! After a lovely tip from Young House Love that Home Depot was selling the fig trees I had a mini panic attack & called the Home Depots in our area. Come to find out the only one that carries them near us was two hours away. Within an hour we were in our car on our way to get one. Yes, I’m that crazy. It was actually an excuse for the hubs and I to get out of the house & take a little day trip so we were excited to go & do some shopping. It was a rainy day on Friday so I threw on my boots & ended up at Home Depot about two hours later & thankfully there were two little fiddle fig trees left in stock for us to pick from.

Here she is. For now we have her sitting in our master bedroom in front of a south/west facing window. It’s always so bright and sunny in this room all day so it was the perfect resting area for the fiddle fig. From what we have learned about the fiddle fig it needs lots of filtered sun, not a whole lot a water but enough to keep it alive, & lots of love. I am scared. I DO NOT HAVE A GREEN THUMB. I kill any sensitive plant that enters our house. Hopefully that is not the case with our fiddle fig, but the good thing is we only spent $36 on the lovely plant. The basket we put the potted plant in is from Homegoods as well. It’s burlap and was the perfect height for the pot. To keep the light filtered {or indirect} on the fiddle fig the sheer curtains pulled in front of it should be a good solution.

O, and did you notice that buck got a makeover? You can see the before {here}. We spray painted buck with antique copper spray paint from rustoleum & I’m kind of loving his new look. This little corner of the room is kind of coming along in our master bedroom “make-under” that it’s undergoing.

DSC_3448

DSC_3662
Today I just wanted to introduce you to our fiddle fig & reach out to any of you who have had a fiddle fig experience & get some advice, stories, & any other comments you have about them. I mean if I have to sing to the plant everyday to make it happy, I will! The plant may move to a different area of the house, & who knows it may even change baskets, but for not we are liking here where she is at. Let me know what you think in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or that with me on Instagram. O, & before I get a million comments that Ikea has fiddle figs for sale for $12, I live about five hours from Ikea so that wasn’t an option for our little day trip Friday, but if you live near an Ikea, run & get yourself one!!

Spring Dining Room

Lovely spring dining room tour!! Get inspired by some great ideas on how to decorate your home for spring. - lizmarieblog.com

I have been bringing spring into our home for the past few weeks a tiny bit at a time because guess what? I’m ready for it!! I’m ready for warm days, bike rides, windows open, budding flowers, green grass, & not having to wear a jacket everywhere I go. Thankfully it’s been pretty warm here in NC & we have been blessed with some warm days already. I know a lot of people are still dealing with snow & cold weather so I thought I would share our spring dining room to bring some lovely warm decor into your life. One Room Two Ways

Untitled
I was playing around with a few room designs today & decided to blog one living room I put together styled two different ways. I kept all of the furniture, curtains, & a few accessories the same & just changed up the art, rugs, & pillows. This really shows how you can change the look of a room with a few simple changes & that a room makeover doesn’t have to take you a lot of time or cost a lot of money. To see all of the details of this room & to see where you can purchase the items you can go {here}. & let me know your favorite room design in the comments below!

Cozy Wicker Cottage
So what do you think of the two rooms? I loved the couch so I worked around that piece. I wanted to add some rustic touches & also some masculine touches so I went with a metal & wood coffee table & a lovely studded leather chair. For the cozy wicker cottage I added some antique windows as the focal point art along with a beautiful rustic clock. For pillows I stuck with neutrals & stayed in the tan & gray family to accent the grayish navy striped rug. In the gold plated cottage I went with a bold faux gold deer head as the focal point art above the couch along with a chalkboard more modern clock with gold hands. For accent pillows I went with gold & black bold pillows to accent the gold accessories & make the room pop. I added a faux fur rug on top of the natural fiber rug to add another bold element in the room as well.  So let me know what you think of the room designs in the comments below, find me on facebook, or chat with me on Instagram. I hope you all have a great day!! xx

A Simple Winter Entryway

A simple winter entryway - lizmarieblog.com

After Christmas I always want to keep things simple around here. Lately we have been working on some larger DIY projects so the winter decor was lovely, simple, & rustic. Today I wanted to show you a glimpse of our winter entryway. Ok. You may be mad at me for this because I’m not showing a large part of the entryway. I’m leaving a little up to the imagination only because I’m not ready to show the full tutorial yet for the large piece of art. Don’t worry though I will be showing you very soon. {The Tutorial for the large DIY pallet clock is up on the blog now. click HERE to see it!} Winter decor is so much different to me than Christmas decor. It’s simple & to the point. It’s clean & refreshing & offers cold with a little warmth. & please ignore the big elephant in the room, I mean *cough* DIY Clock *cough*. Or don’t ignore it & get excited for it. You pick 😉

The entryway table is a DIY card catalog that I made, you can see it {here}. The metal basket was a thrifted find with some nature that I picked up on a walk with my dogs. The lamps are from Hobby Lobby along with the wicker basket at the bottom. The round metal basket at the bottom is another thrifted find & the linens in side are from Ikea.

Middle Guest Bedroom Makeover – Almost Done!

Seriously, sometimes I feel like I confuse you guys so much as to what is going on in our house. We are basically making over every room in our home right now, getting read to sell this house, working on so many projects, & who knows what else. Kudos to those who can keep up! Mind getting me up to speed on things too? haha no seriously though. This middle guest bedroom  has always been one of my least favorite rooms in the house. I felt like it was dark & I had no direction for the space. Well, guess what? It’s almost done now! I need to add a few more things like a rug & some more linens. Also those curtains? Those are drop clothes that are not trimmed or hemmed. I don’t even know if they are permanent in this space, but for now they work. I am so excited that this middle guest bedroom makeover is almost done!

The room is almost done! What do you think so far? We hung the pendants from Target this past weekend, we made that little side table {tutorial coming soon}, put some legs on our antique trunk, hung some artwork, & completed a lot of other little details as well. The before & afters & all of the details will be coming soon. Stay tuned for the tutorials & be sure to let me know what you think so far! Empty House, Table Runner, Desk Lamp

The transition in home decor after Christmas is always a little unsettling for me. The house feels empty, the warmth of the Christmas decor is gone, & the glow of Christmas lights is no longer there. I struggle with this time in every year in our home, & I know I’m not the only one who does. We have been making some pretty big changes around here so I have not focused to much on our winter decor. Also in the middle of all that, like most people, we are purging and getting rid of so much around here. I think I have daily pickups for home decor I am selling & furniture I am wanting to get rid of. The house is forever evolving. I wanted to show you a glimpse of the empty, the change, the transition, & some new. & please excuse the lighting changes in these photos… one minute it was bright & sunny & the next minute it was storm clouds & rain. I figured you wouldn’t mind….

This was an instagram picture I took of our empty living room after all the Christmas stuff was taken down. It kind of turned out pink, but I promise you that our living room is not pink 😉 But it does feel super empty! Ps. That coffee table got a big makeover today, can’t wait to show you!

The new table runner is from TJ Maxx for less than $20 & I think I need to go back & get another one. The table runner is great for every season & I’m excited that I finally found a neutral table runner that I love. This dining room seems so empty now & I’m getting anxious to bring it into spring or add some more love to the space. See those cute salt and pepper shakers? I’m sure some of you know where they are from, good old Target! I had to get them & I feel like they are season neutral.. kind of like gender neutral? Does that make any sense? Another thing I picked up this week was an awesome lamp from Lowes. I’m pretty in love.

I put this photo up on Instagram when I found it because I was so excited. We got it for an out of box discount & we got our military discount so we got a great deal! Please don’t mind me being a hot mess, I literally left my pajamas for about an hour that day to run to Lowes. It’s real life. It happens. Originally I bought it for our middle guest bedroom {which is done by the way! I can’t wait to show you!} but when I got it home I set it on the new side table I just painted {can’t wait to show you that either!} & I fell in love with it in our living room. More on this space later…

So, is your house feeling empty these days? We surely are making a lot of changes around here this week so I’m really excited to show you how we are progressing over here. Stay tuned. Find me on Facebook & Instagram for more updates. Have a great day! xx

Guest Bathroom Makeover – Part One

As many of you know we are getting ready to put our house on the market this spring. That means getting it ready to sell. One major thing on our list was our guest bathroom. 3 years ago I thought it was a great idea to paint it a super dark olive green. I loved it then, but the space needed to be freshened up. A lot. So yesterday we started on this journey of re-doing the guest bath & I’m pretty excited about it. Of course since we are moving out in a few months there will be nothing major like new flooring or breaking any walls down, but there will be some exciting things I promise! So let’s get on to the good, the bad, & the ugly. If you came here today for beautiful after photos, sorry, I can’t help you. Unless you go up to the “project gallery” tab up top. Here we go…

This photos was taken about 2 years ago. Not my favorite space in the house. I guess I never just wanted to work on the bathroom, but today that changed. I can’t believe I let this space go untouched for so long!

Step one was taping off the space. Everyone tapes off their bathrooms on Sunday morning in their PJ’s right? haha the hubs has no shame in me showing his painting clothes here on the blog thankfully 😉 Of course bathrooms prove to be tricky with tons of corners & small spaces so the tools we used for this projects were a small roller, large roller, Scotch blue painters tape & an angled brush to cut in with. & the bathroom is now primed and ready to be painted…

& we even put one layer of paint on the walls today too. The color is my favorite, White dove by Benjamin Moore. No surprise here. I wanted to use this color to make the bathroom very light & bright & appealing to buyers. More on that in the next update.

& I promise I actually worked today, but look at Mr. LMB practicing yoga & while he paints. He’s a good man! Can’t wait to show you how bright & fresh the bathroom is looking in the next update. What do you guys think of the guest bathroom freshen up so far? I hope you all have a great day!! xx

Ps. Happy New Years Eve!!! & if you missed it yesterday I posted my “Best of 2013” post. Come see some of my best posts from this past year {here}.
