Let me start by saying that I am not one to decorate for valentines day. I love valentines day,
don’t get me wrong. I love getting spoiled by my husband and celebrating our love, but I just
do not usually decorate our home for that holiday. But, I really wanted to participate in
this weeks linky party {The last one of the Dog Days of Winter Series!} which is the “Love It”
challenge. This challenge is all about valentines day. Whether it’s food, decor, crafts, DIY
projects, anything to do with the day of love! So, what I did was created a little vignette in our
home for valentines day & I actually enjoyed it! Who knows I may decorate for valentines day
from now on. I simply used things I already had in my home & a few things I picked up
for less than five dollars at the craft store. I’m a little out of my comfort zone on this one,
but I threw something together on a whim & this is what happened.
I did a few DIY projects for this vignette that were super easy!
For the wooden sign I simply glued wood planks together and stained them. I took a wooden heart
from Michaels {$1.00} painted it white & glued it to the wooden planks. Easy & cheap! For the heart
banner I took cardboard heart boxes {also from Michaels 6 for like $2.00} And hot glued the tops
of the boxes to twine and hung across the mirror with tape. I took the bottoms of the boxes and
hot glued them together for the heart statue. As far as the chalkboard sign I free handed that
{if you couldn’t tell ;)} & simply set it inside the wreath that is hung from the window pane
{from target} The books that the window is setting on are books that I painted and distressed.
What do you think of my DIY valentines day decor? Do you decorate for valentines day?
