Ever since our loss I have been very into cleansing and making things new again. I have been all about clearing out the clutter in our home & my favorite saying is “out with the old”. Am I the only one who gets satisfaction out of donating, selling, and throwing away clutter? We have re-painted most of the house {which I still need to give an update on… I know!} & the front bedroom is the latest victim. The walls are painted, & now the room is slowly coming back together. Last night I hung these DIY Metal letters that I made. For some reason the verse “be still & know that I am God” comes to my head in those moments when things seem to be overwhelming & too much to handle. This room is going to be a reading room, a relaxing room, & the room you go to to take an afternoon nap in. Peaceful. I am not one for “words on the wall” but these words seemed very appropriate and are a great daily reminder for our house. & my heart wanting me to do this, & we all know you must listen to your heart.
The cardboard letters I used were from Hobby Lobby at about $2 each. I also purchased the metallic spray paint from there as well. I simply sprayed the letters {about 2 layers per side} & allowed them to dry. After they dried I used a sanding block to distress them & get rid of the shiny finish that they had. I hung the letters with command strips so that I didn’t have to put any holes in the walls. Once the letters were hung using a level, I touched up the letters with the sanding block.
What do you think of my DIY metal letters in the guest room? Have you made something from these cardboard letters at hobby lobby before? I’m a huge fan of them & all of the possibilities with these letters. I can’t wait to finish this room and show you the reveal. I think it will be one of my favorite rooms in our house. I hope you are all having a great week! xx
