I wanted a little planter for our entryway table this spring. I had a basket & some Ikea rugs & decided to combine the two to make some very simple planters. I mean come on people. You know we like to keep it simple around here. Design & home decor doesn’t always have to be super complicated.
For this project you can use any fabric, rug, or anything that fits into the basket that you have. I happened to have a long wire metal basket & an ikea Signe rug that I picked up on our last Ikea trip {$2.99 at Ikea stores} & used those for my DIY planter. The rug acts as a liner in the basket. Like I said before, you can use any fabric for this & it’s no sew! Just manipulate the fabric to fit around the inside of the basket & you have a DIY planter that you can change up whenever you want. After I got the rug situated in the basket, I placed my plants in the basket that I got from Lowes {I forget the name of them, but they are one of their “plants of steel” so you can’t kill it. Unless you are really good at killing plants that is.} You can also place a plastic tray {found at any hardware store} in the bottom to line the planter, I did not line mine because strangely there is no holes in the bottom of the planters I have. So no mess when I water, perfect!
What do you think of my quick little planter in our entryway? I thought it was a quick way to add some lovely greenery & detail to the entryway without having to go out and buy a planter or take a lot of time to make one. Do you have these rugs from Ikea? We have a few laying around the house so I am glad to see one put to use. Leave your comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram, I would love to hear from you!!
