A week ago we were in Michigan celebrating Mr. LMB’s little sister’s graduation. It was seriously so amazing that we could be home to celebrate such a big moment in her life & we got to help decorate & set up for her big graduation party as well. From small DIY projects like mason jar vases, chalkboard labels, & burlap table runners, to buiding DIY chalkboard easels, a DIY wood planter cooler, & a DIY popcorn stand. Her party was awesome! I think my favorite DIY project for the party was the Popcorn stand. Mr. LMB & his dad made together while my beautiful mother in-law & I decorated it.
The boys did the building of the popcorn stand which you can see on Mr. LMB’s blog {here}. I made the sign & it was super simple to make. Please excuse my cell phone photos of the process, but we were on a time limit!
I started with some 8 inch cardboard letters from Hobby lobby. I first spray painted them with a bronze spray paint & let it dry. I then came in with a red spray paint & let that layer dry. Once it was completely dry I took a sanding block & distressed the letters to make them look antique. For the board I purchased it at Lowes & painted it with some leftover chalkboard paint I had from other projects we were doing. I then seasoned the board with chalk by rubbing chalk all over the board & wiping off. This helped the board look more used & antiqued. That’s it for the sign! You can make this sign for almost anything, but it works great for a lovely popcorn stand.
What do you think of the lovely DIY popcorn stand? I’m in love & I think Mr. LMB should make us one now. Be sure to head on over to his blog {here} & see how he made it! Let me know what you think of it in the comments below, on Facebook, & find me on Instagram! xx
Ps. Isn’t this flowerbed drink cooler that they made pretty awesome? This planter box cooler is around 20 feet & was filled with drinks at the beginning of the party. It was a very unique & genius way to keep the drinks cool & have easy access for guests. It did a great job at keeping the drinks cool too. I took this photo after the party was over & the drinks had been in the cooler for over 7 hours in the 90 degree heat. Each part of the flower box was labeled & contained different drinks & after the party it can be used as a planter along the fence!
