I am re-doing a small room in our historic rental home & I’m really excited about it! Even back when we did the video home tour of our rental a few months ago I didn’t show this room because I completely forgot about it and at the time had forgotten that it even existed. This room is a very small sunroom on the back of the house that was pretty disgusting and needed some love. If you know me, you know that wherever I live, I have to make it a home. I have to make anywhere I live comfortable for us & even though this is my first “rental experience”, I feel like we have made it our home very quickly. Anyways back to the sunroom. I wanted to give it a small makeover without investing too much money into it since this is just a rental for a few months. So with some paint, some elbow grease, & some accessories I made the sunroom a whole new space. But first? Let’s take a look at the lovely mint door. There is a closet door at the end of the room & I wanted to make it somewhat of a focal point so I gave it a fresh makeover with a couple coats of paint.
Seriously I am in love with this minty color from Behr! It’s called whip mint & it’s the loveliest subtle mint color & it was the perfect fresh start for this worn out porch. Let’s revisit this door “before”….
Wow. Looking at the before photos still gets me. The whole porch was dirty, but the door was one of the dirtiest parts. After a good scrubbing of the door, I put two coats of the Behr Marquee exterior paint in whipped mint & the door was as good as new again.
The door hardware? I wanted it to pop so I decided to paint all of the hardware gold. I used a metallic gold craft paint that I had on hand & it worked perfectly! I think the gold really pops against the mint & makes the door complete. The antlers {found at Target around the Holidays} was the perfect final touch.
What do you think of the first part of our tiny sunroom makeover? Do you like the gold & mint combo? I can’t stop painting & decorating even if you stick me in a rental for a few months before we move to our home in Michigan. I just can’t stop! I know a lot of you know the feeling. DIY is good for the soul. I will be back with more parts of the sunroom makeover & the full reveal so stay tuned. Let me know what you think of the door in the comments below, find me on Facebook, or chat with me on Instagram. I can’t wait to hear what you think of the door! xx
