Today’s post is pretty exciting for little old me sitting here in my PJ’s sipping tea writing this. You see, I’m just a 26 year old girl who started this blog a couple of years ago just wanting to share all of my DIY projects & home decor adventures with whoever happened to stumble upon my blog. & guess what? That’s still my goal. I just want to make some pretty things & blog about it, but thanks to people like you who have become part of this community who stop by my blog to read my posts, I get these opportunities that I can’t even fathom why they are happening to me. I am so grateful & it’s because of you coming to read my blog, encouraging me, & sharing in my love for DIY that it’s all possible. I can’t say it enough, thank you for reading my little blog & thank you for sharing in this love of DIY & home decor with me. You rock & you keep this lovely little blog of mine going & you keep my dreams alive!
The first bit of exciting news today is that our last house here in North Carolina is featured in The Holiday Home edition of The Cottage Journal this season! Our entire house tour is in the magazine along with a very sweet story about our style, our life, & some other things that made me cry when I read it. I cried out of joy & sadness. Joy of the memories of that house, & sadness because it’s no longer ours & because we are about to leave NC & this military life that they wrote about in the magazine. So many emotions. Whoo! But this is super exciting for me, my blog, & what a cool way to remember that little green craftsman home of ours! & how fun to be taking pictures with our last house in the magazine on the porch of our current historic rental we are in right before we move to our Michigan house next month. Wow. That’s a lot to wrap your mind around huh?
I’m going to faint. I mean I have been in magazines before for certain projects, but to have our whole house featured is just making my heart burst. We loved that house of ours & this is just the cherry on top. & The Cottage Journal is one of my favorite magazines. If you have picked up a copy of TCJ before you know what I mean when I say the quality of the magazine is intense & the images inside are always so inspirational. It’s a staple in our home on our coffee table. I am giving away a years subscription including the Holiday Home issue at the bottom of this post.
But first… Some news that I have never shared here on the blog that I have been keeping to myself for about a year now. I have no idea why I haven’t shared this fun news before, but I figured today was a good day to share since we are on the topic of magazines. I have been writing for a Michigan based magazine for about a year now monthly & having so much fun with it. The magazine is called Women’s Lifestyle & can be found all over the greater Grand Rapids area {and beyond I believe}. The column is a DIY column & I write about things I do here on the blog from home decor, DIY, to my tips & tricks. I’m not going to lie, I feel a little like Carrie Bradshaw writing my column monthly, but my column is a little less exciting than hers depending on who you are talking to haha.
If you are in Michigan you can see where you can pick up a copy on their website, but if you are wanting to read the articles and you are not in Michigan no worries! You can read the articles on line {here} right on your computer or phone. I’ve been really excited for this opportunity & think it’s a great way to ease back into living in Michigan this year. I hope you are all as excited as I am for these announcements & I can’t wait to hear what you have to say about it! Leave me a comment below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram! xx
Whoa. Ok… that was a lot of magazine talk. Now who is ready to win a year subscription to The Cottage Journal & 5 others will win the Holiday Home edition?! Use the rafflecopter below to enter & I will be choosing a winner next week. Good luck!

Also, thank you for the giveaway! I would have to say my favorite part of fall would be the weather and the beautiful colors outdoors, but Georgia seems to be getting a little confused on the weather part this year, hopefully we will be out of the 80s soon! Congrats again!

You are an amazing young lady!
Congrats in your success. This is only the beginning for you. I am sure more great things are coming your way. It is so fun to follow your blog to get inspiration for my own projects.

Congratulations!!! Your talent is going to continue to “take you places” and open new doors! Keep creating and inspiring others to do so too!
My favorite part of fall is when the weather is dry sunny, but cool, the amazingly colored leaves gently float down from the trees. When you can hear the geese honking overhead. And when the smell from the burning leaf pile mixes with cool air… I just stand there resting on the rake, and take it all in !!! That is my favorite part of fall !!!! ;0)
Congrats! Love your house and your style.
So proud of you sister!
My favorite part of fall is the crisp cool weather, the changing leaves curling up in a fun cozy sweater!
Congrats! That is an amazing accomplishment!

Congrats! That’s so exciting!
My favourite part of fall is all the great produce. I love the harvest season, especially the apples 🙂
The colors are definitely my favorite! And crunchy leaves to walk in! Congratulations on all your accomplishments!
Congratulations Liz on all you have accomplished! Very exciting times for you and your husband. I have been following both of you on Facebook for about a year now. Fall is my favorite time of the year because of all the brilliant colors. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio but have lived in Texas since 1977 when my husband left the military ( after 6 years of service in the Air Force). I live in Houston. Sometimes Fall is spectacular here and reminds me of Fall up North however sometimes we do not see all the beautiful colors of Fall which I still miss. It pretty much depends on what the weather is like. To warm in the Fall and the leaves just do not turn color. Thank you for inspiring so many of us. You are a very talented young lady.
Congrats! I love picking out the best pumpkins at the patch and going through corn mazes! Thank you for being creative, unique and brave in your designs!
Congrats, Liz! Well deserved! You have curated a beautiful blog with great ideas and inspiration. Wonderful job! All the best!
That’s awesome, congrats! Living in HOT southern Utah my favorite part of fall is simple… The amazing cooler temps. To go from 100’s to 70-80s is AWESOME 🙂
This is awesome!! Congratulations! You totally deserve it all, you are sincerely talented! My biggest inspiration in home design and decorating! Also, truly inspired by your faith and love for Jesus. So real and encouraging. Thank you!
Anyway, I would have to say my favorite thing about fall is football 🙂 Love our Seattle Seahawks and my husband coaches high school football in our little suburb city. 🙂
I just wanted to say that I love your style! I have always been a big reader of YHL and that was about it. But I kept pinning your stuff on Facebook so now I am a reader of your blog too!
P.S. I had some old shutters that we replaced on the front of our house and guess what? I made your shutter bench the day before you came out with the how-to! Would have helped if I had waited since I had some issues with keeping my legs stable. I’m going to go back and make some changes but a big thank you for the inspiration!
This is so great! I love The Cottage Journal! I am so happy for you!!
My favorite part of fall is building the first fire in the fireplace and the smell of wood smoke outside.
I just recently started following your blog….so enjoyable….
My favorite part of fall is going on a hike in the mountains, seeing the leaves change color and feeling the cool crisp air.
I love the cooler temperatures! And congrats on this, lady! That is too cool!
OH! I love that mug! Where did you get it? Or is it a DIY? It’s adorable, regardless. (-:
Way to go!! How exciting! My favorite part of fall is the cooler weather, which means, boots, sweaters and scarves.
Fall = God’s Canvas
My favorite part about fall is the change of the color of the leaves. We live in New England and every year it looks like God just splashed a paint brush over the mountains!
Fall symbolizes change and renewal and you can feel it in the crisp fall air.
I love your blog and I love you!
God bless,
Bree Craft
I love pumpkins and gourds in all their pretty colors and shapes–multi-colored leaves and acorns–and cooler temperatures so we can use our fireplace once in a while in our Texas home…

I love fall… I mean the boots, layers, scarves! ALL of it. Especially Starbucks’ fall flavors/drinks and pumpkin everything! In fact, since it’s my favorite time of year, I chose to get married in October (exactly 11 Japan days from today.. 12 Georgia time)! Most importantly, the amazing colors. Nothing is more beautiful than the Georgia mountains when covered in fall foliage!
I love watching my girls jump in the leaves and taking our annual family picture.
oops forgot to say, my favorite part of fall is going for a weekend trip to MI!
i love fall because of the cooler temps!! We live in the desert where our average temp hovers around 95-100 in the summer so when we get in the 70’s in the fall it’s amazing!

Well Liz you’re not going to believe this but my favorite part of fall here in southern California is remembering my MI cousins’ exclamation when she visited in November “This is your fall!!!???” It was 72 degrees that day, haha. I actually do have a sycamore tree that lets go of its leaves, so I guess we really do have “fall” here!
Congratulations Liz! That’s such an accomplishment, you definitely deserve to have your house featured- your work is gorgeous!
