I kind of knew when we moved into our Michigan house two weeks ago that I wouldn’t want to go all out on Christmas decor this year here because between moving in, unpacking boxes, & trying to get settled in I just knew it wouldn’t be a priority. Of course I was exhausted after decorating our historic rental in North Carolina for the holidays before we left, so simple is better for me in our Michigan house! I shared our tree with you in the new house last week, & now we added a little Christmas cheer to our master bedroom to add some coziness before we can really get to decorating it for good. It’s been really dark & gloomy { & might I add unseasonably warm} here in Michigan so please excuse my dark photos, but it kind of adds to how cozy this space is in real life.
What inspired me to decorate this space of ours for the holidays in the new home? I got a lovely secret santa gift in the mail from one of the #ProjectFab bloggers from Marshalls & I was so excited to get some coziness in the mail! My secret santa sent me a lovely gray throw & a new white coffee mug filled with coffee & of course my favorite, chai tea! I woke up one morning to the Fed Ex guy dropping this off to me & I snuggled right up with some tea & my new throw in the bedroom enjoying the morning in our new house & I could have stayed in bed forever. It inspired me to make the whole room cozy for the holidays so that’s exactly what I did. We still might not be fully settled in our home, but by golly we will have Christmas decor & cozy spaces among the chaos.
Our room is getting so cozy! We may not have our bed setup & our closet doors may not be finished, but who is looking at that when you have a cozy christmas bedroom to look at. I of course kept it really simple by hanging a wreath above our bed with a thumb tack none the less. I put some Christmas pillows on the bed & a Christmas sign on the nightstands along with some tiny trees. What really makes this place feel like the holidays to me? The coziness! All of the throws, texture, & soft colors really put me in the holiday spirit. What do you think of this simple holiday space? Simplicity and coziness…..key for feeling warm and relaxed on a winters day. I LOVE it. Thank you for sharing
Simple. Cozy. Perfect! Merry Christmas!
your scarf is to die for!!!! where is if from?
This is adorable and truly cozy looking. I would have never thought of putting a wreath in the bedroom but it works out perfectly. All the pillows look so cozy though must be a pain in the butt to move every night. The little side baskets with mini trees is genius, are they real and let off a nice scent too?
Thanks for sharing your room whether it finished or not it looks amazing!

I love your cozy bedroom. I have the dark floors and even the same rug. I have never even considered painting the room white because I have only north-facing windows. How much natural light do you have?
I want to know too Taylor. Love!
I’ve been checking out your blog for a couple weeks now because I really love your decor style! I love the way you put pieces together. Simply beautiful. I do have a question for you about the striped Ikea bedding….Is it the gray or blue striped duvet? I think I’m color blind (or my computer is crap, LOL!) but I just can’t tell myself. Thanks and Happy Christmas!
I just saw your blog, but really admire with your decor style, though i’m not celebrating christmas. Simply beautiful but looks great.
So warm and welcoming! Great job!
Nice Christmas post, Liz. I’ll look for more of your stuff on Pinterest. I mainly pin about solar power and home improvement as well.
Looks warm and cozy. Merry Christmas Liz Marie!
Girrrrrllll… If I could express the inspiration you have given me…. Your pics are ALL over my blog!!! Keep the pics coming!!!! L o v e!!!!
This is perfection. It looks so cozy and inviting!
New reader here and I LOVE your style. My husband and I just moved to a tiny town in Colorado, moving from Colorado Springs, CO with almost 400 people, and we love it. I’m hell bent on making this house full of cozy and actually decorating because I never did in the last house we owned. I never committed to spending the money or trying to even decorate since my Pottery Barn/West Elm/Restoration Hardware tastes couldn’t fit in my wallet. 😉 But your blog is full of ideas and I look forward to reading along.
I love this! Is the Ikea duvet grey or blue?
Love this space! I have seen those lamps on the target website — do you know what size yours are? Love the height and chunky-ness of them. 🙂
Beautiful!
I write a blog about simplicity and I’ve been loving images of simple Christmas decorations. I love the idea that using just a few pieces can make a room festive for the holidays. Thanks for the inspiration!:)
