You know those pieces of furniture that are hand me downs from your loved ones? I feel so lucky to have a lot of those & I treasure them dearly. Some of those furniture treasures can be found around our house, & others I have yet to find a place for, or need some love. I found this small little table in our basement the other day & knew right away that I wanted to paint it. There was fun paint class at The Painted Farmgirl [where the hubs & I have a booth at in Hudsonville, Michigan] & I decided to attend the class to learn some new techniques & for some fun. I love that the Maison Blanche paint classes they teach are from anyone from beginners to expert painters. There is always new things to learn!
I still don’t have a permanent spot for this little table yet, but I really wanted to show you this cute little makeover. I can never keep the power of paint a secret! Here is how the little table was looking before I got my hands on it…
& after I did a few fun paint techniques…
So how did I get this look? Super simple! First I dry brushed Maison Blanche maison white chalk paint all over the table. I didn’t try for perfection & wanted it to look old & used. After the dry brush paint was dry. I learned a new technique in the class of mixing a color wax with a clear wax & it worked amazing! I ended up mixing a Maison Blanche gray lime wax. The clear wax helps to “water” down the gray lime wax & make it less opaque. I spread the wax all over the table & actually didn’t wipe it off. That’s the beauty of this Maison Blanche wax is that you can leave it right on the piece & it will harden. I let it set for two days to dry & fully harden before I used it. The gray wax really looks great over the white chalk paint & added a lot of depth to the piece. I think it made it look like little white beachy table.
What do you think of my little side table makeover? I can’t wait to find a permeant spot in our house for it so I can see it everyday & have a lovely little reminder of my grandma everyday. I love that I could turn a damaged side table that may have been thrown away or overlooked by everyone else. Let me know what you think in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
I love this little makeover – and I do love having family pieces around the house! It just makes them that much more special.
Love the white washed look! I want to do that on my bedside stands. Is it hard to keep clean though?
