A few weeks ago I posted about two doors we put behind our loveseat in our lower level living room. I liked the doors, but something bothered me about them. You all know I love the color white & I love using it in my decor, but the antique doors behind the couch were almost a “smokers white” and looked dingy. I know in photos they don’t look terrible, but in person they were just not what I wanted. So, what did I do? I painted them of course! I played around with some new colors & had some fun…
I’m loving the rustic texture & the contrast of the doors now. Whenever I walk by them they just make me happy. Again, the lighting is kind of weird in this area so I actually like the doors better in person than I do in photos, but we can’t be too picky can we? Here are what the doors looked like a few days ago…
& after a quick coat of Maison Blanche confederate gray, sealing it with white chalk wax, & painting the doorknobs with Maison Blanche wrought iron here is what the doors are looking like now…
I asked on Instagram the other day what color you guys thought I would paint the doors & a lot of you were pretty close! For now I put a wreath from Target on the doors, but who knows what I will end up hanging there in the near future. I will move the office sign from [Painted Fox] to another location just because it blended in too much with the doors now. What do you think of our painted doors? I love the contrast & the big impact it adds to the room now. I think it makes the room more cozy now & that’s always a good thing. Let me know in the comments below, on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
I LOVE it so much more and I had no idea there was such a thing as white wax!1 The wreath in green really brings it out! Great job as usual!! You are one talented and amazing girl! Love your blog.
I love this grey color and it’s true… I love white myself but the makeover worth it, really!
You did an amazing job on these doors.
Anne.

The doors look great and the color is perfection!
Love your made-over doors–they have a wonderful antique look and contrast nicely with the couch and walls. I’ve posted them on facebook 🙂
This is an inspiration. I really loved it in both after and before.

Hi Liz!! You are such an inspiration! My husband and I just bought our first home. A fixer upper, of course! We have no idea what we are doing, but we bought some doors off craigslist and are sanding them down and fixing them up!! I want to do exactly this! I have so many questions! We’ve sanded down our doors to the natural wood, did you? Did you prime it? What’s your favorite prime? Did you use a brush, a roller? Was it just the paint and then the wax, and then BAM, done! Anything will help!!!! Thanks for all you do!
First timer,
Aissa
