A while back I shared some cubbies on my Instagram with you guys & asked what you would do with them. At that point I knew I wanted to hang them in our house I just wasn’t sure where. After reading your comments & thinking about it, I decided to hang it in our dining room. This proved to be a difficult task because of how heavy it was, but just picture me standing up on the buffet trying to hold it up as Mr. LMB screwed the cubbies directly to the wall. With wall anchors of course. This thing isn’t moving. Hopefully. Here is how it’s looking in our dining room as of today…
Ok, so now for filling the cubbies? I had a lot of things on hand that I wanted to put in the cubbies i.e. the coffee cups from H&M, the cream & sugar containers, the ramekins, & a few of the other smalls. & then I got super lucky. I stumbled into Michaels one day & low & behold they were having 80% off. Are you kidding? So I picked up all of the black & white spice jars for less than a $1, the glass cloches, & the metal cans. Affordable & useful items & all most of them needed was some spray paint…
So here was all the containers & cloches before I worked some spray paint magic. Everyone was passing these things up at the store because of all the colors, but for $1 I was not about to pass any of this up. I’m thinking spice jars! & the cloches are actually some weird little candles. I might not ever burn them, but hey.. if our power goes out I’m set! There’s always that. I wanted a matte black look so I used matte black spray paint. Good thinking huh? Here are the little misfits after I got a hold of them…
I know the number one question I will get which is totally understandable is, “Liz! What will you use these cubbies for?” & I will reply, “Good question friend! Well, my first goal is to store spices in the jars, coffee cups because I hoard them, & then as time goes on I will find things to put in the other cubbies that are useful, but for now friend isn’t it pretty?” ok, maybe I don’t talk like that, but that’s my answer for now. I think I have a new obsession & it’s cubbies.
& just for fun here is a shot of our dining room a few months ago. We are far from done, but man we have come far…
& 1,000 photos later, there is our dining room cubbies. Oh, & I forgot to mention where I got these babies.. I found them while out junkin’ from a cool guy in our area named Mark who has a store called Lost & Found here in GR. Ok, Well I’m going to go stare at my cubbies for a while.. sounds dirty, but it’s really not.. it’s a thing that people do when they have really good looking cubbies. Ok, I’m done. What do you guys think of our new addition to our dining room? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram! xx

I love this look! I’m also wondering where you get all your greens from? Are they real or fake?
haha I love this 🙂 and I loveee the before and “after”! I thought the before was already pretty and you’ve just added so much character. I super love that you put the buffet back into your dining room, I think that’s where buffets like to live 🙂 we just got one for $40 at an auction that I would LOVE to paint like yours, but we are in an old victorian and it makes more sense to keep it wood. And I love when people insist on having a purpose for something… we recently lucked onto an old card catalog (finally! yay!) and everyyyyone is – “what are you going to do with it?” ummm we are planning to look at it adoringly… hahah. It doesn’t have to serve any specific purpose if you love it 🙂
Also I listened to your podcast with Chelsea on twotwentyone and you guys were too funny. I felt like I was just listening to two of my friends chatting about blogging and life which was pretty fun. I’m super jealous that you get to blog as your job but I know it’s lot’s of work too! You and Jose are awesome. #superlongcommentsorry 🙂
I love your “eat” sign, I saw it on Instagram first and I had to come to your blog and check out the rest of the details. Great pics!!
