Last week we celebrated my little brothers high school graduation. He’s actually my brother-in-law, but I prefer to call him my brother because.. well, he’s like my brother & it just sounds better to me. My mother-in-law is seriously the BEST hostess. She is very detail oriented & all of her get togethers are always the best. From the food to the placement of everything to things running smoothly. I could go on, but I don’t know if I could ever throw a party like her, but I’m happy to learn from the best. First thing for me to learn: how to cook. But we will save that for a later date. For now I’m just going to continue to use my creative little brain & maybe some day I will be the hostess with the mostess like my mother in law. In my dreams. When we started planning my brothers graduation party I knew it was going to be good. Mr. LMB & I came together along with my father-in-law to build a lovely piece of furniture for the graduation party. We wanted to make a large outdoor server to place under the food tent to hold the paper plates, silverware, napkins, & all of the extra things that would be needed to re-fill the food tent through out the day. We gathered some inspiration throughout the web & finally came up with our very own DIY BBQ Caddy Stand. Be sure to head on over to the ever-so-handy Mr. LMB’s blog [here] to see how to build your own….
I didn’t style it all pretty for you guys. this is real life. this is how we had it on the graduation day so it was practical & actually this is after it had been used all day by hundreds of people. But I mean.. look at how handy this piece of furniture is! We had it placed at the beginning of the food table line & it really helped things run smoothly & everything had very easy access. At the bottom of the BBQ caddy stand we used crates for storing extras of everything for easy re-loading. I’m not saying this is a genius thing to have at any backyard get together, but I think you need it. But I kind of am saying that.
The baskets were purchased prior to the build by my mother-in-law from Michaels I believe. The stand is painted in Maison Blanche confederate gray which is a new favorite paint color of mine. & the two bins at the bottom are actually mine from Home Goods, but we are on the lookout for more perfect bins for her to keep on the stand permanently, until then these did the job for the day!
How do you think our DIY bbq caddy stand turned out? I think it’s quite lovely & I can’t believe how handy it is. It would be great on a deck with metal buckets filled with ice & drinks, used for a plant stand, at a farmers market, & so much more. Seriously this thing is super versatile. Ps. This is a popcorn cart we made for my sister-in-law’s graduation party last year. I guess since we can’t cook we decide to build things for people to make up for that…
You can see how we made this DIY popcorn stand [here] to make one for yourself!
See what some of my friends have been doing with Maison Blanche paint lately:

This is so fun, Liz.
Thank you Danielle!! I think it’s so fun for them to keep & use from now on. I think ever great hostess should have one 😉 haha
What a clever idea! I think it would be cute to use picnic baskets, in place of the crates, to hold extra supplies. It would keep them hidden from view, but still accessible. I love the popcorn cart. I would enjoy having something similar for our outdoor movies. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next 🙂
Super cute! I think I need something like this because we do parties often…so creative!
