Sometimes I’m in my garage & I start daydreaming as I’m listing to my audio books & I just start creating something. Sometimes when I wake up from those daydreams I have created something lovely & sometimes not so much. There other day during one of my audiobook garage daydreams I created something quite lovely I would say out of some old wooden drawers that I found in a junk pile. Sometimes it’s the small projects, the free projects, that turn out to be lovely & refreshing for the creative mind. I actually don’t really have a place in our home right now for the drawers, but I just took a few quick photos to show you how my little DIY planter drawers turned out…
The drawers were not looking so hot when I found them in the garage…
I painted the drawers in Maison Blanche spanish moss to give them a fresh new look. For the drawer labels I actually used a bunch of tags that I had lying around & hot glued them to the drawers.
I stamped the labels with some stamps I had. How creative of me to label them “drawer 1” “drawer 11” & so on. I mean, come on. After the drawers were painted I placed a few terra-cotta pots in the drawers with some faux plants I had lying around. Oh, you thought I was going to use real plants? You could put real plants in the drawers if you wanted by simply using plastic containers under the pots, but for now I’m loving the low maintenance of these little faux babies.
The best part about this project? It was free & I just used stuff that I already had. Those are the best projects! Just a fun project that hopefully inspires you to see some potential in that junk in your garage. What do you think of my DIY drawer planter? Have you ever made an interesting planter like this before? What did you make it out of? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
This is such a great upcycle! Love the colour you chose too!
Everything you do is amazing. I love this idea.
they’re so cute!! the perfect little cubbies for plants. 🙂
Sometimes when I see faux plants in real life I have to feel them as they look so very real. These look like ones I would have to touch to be sure they were faux. Love how the little drawers turned out. I was painting on a concrete stepping stone today and halfway thru I thought it would bomb but it actually is better than I thought it was going to be. I love audio books, they make cleaning house a treat. (I won’t let myself listen unless I am cleaning, then because I am in the middle of a good part I find more cleaning to do rather than stop and stop the book. ) 🙂 Ya, I know, I am a nut.
Wow! This is a really nice project. Thanks for sharing your creativity!
This was really great to read. Thank you!
