The other day I was on Periscope [If you haven’t found me on there, I’m Liz Marie Blog.. follow me as I make live videos of our home, my finds, & videos of my husband and I being awkward.] Anyways… I was showing our living room & I got a ton of comments about this little deconstructed chair that I had picked up at a flea market a few months ago. I was like duh! I have never really talked about it or showed you guys this chair, so here I am coming to you live with a little post about one of my favorite $10 finds ever!
I have always been in love with the deconstructed chair look & would swoon over them in catalogs like Restoration Hardware & beyond. I was leisurly walking through a flea market one Saturday with my man & stumbled upon this gem & freaked out. I think the seller thought I was insane. There are a few things that I want to play around with & possibly change, but for now this is how it looks in our living room. All I did was cover the cushion with a grain sack & add a couple of pillows because I literally have not touched it since I got it. I just couldn’t believe I hadn’t introduced you guys yet. So friends, meet my chair, & chair meet my blog friends…
Ok, So I’m thinking of “cleaning” the chair up a bit by actually upholstering the seat with the grain sack [or a different one] instead of having it set on there like it is now. I also want to add a few of my own touches & maybe tone down that wood a little bit. Also this post inspired me to clean my floors. these dark floors will show everything.. but hey.. it’s real life around here! Here are some other deconstructed chairs I found around the internet that had me swooning & that inspire me to amp up my deconstructed chair a little bit. These chairs might make you want to go rip the upholstery off the next antique chair you find…
So, I haven’t decided what I’m going to do with my little chair yet, but I do have a few ideas swimming around up there.. we will see if they turn out like I picture them! I just love the deconstructed look & feel of the chairs & want to keep it like that, just maybe make it a tad bit prettier. I’ll be back soon with the before and after of the chair when I make the changes & hopefully it turns out good!
