A few weeks ago I was trying to clean our guest bedroom when I accidentally took a nap. You know those kind of naps when you lay down just for a second to check your phone & than wake up like 4 hours later to your husband standing over you saying good morning. Yah. Those naps. Well, this particular day Mr. LMB was laughing as he woke me up & told me he couldn’t find me until he heard some snoring… which was coming from the dogs by the way, not me. & he happen to find me & the pups snuggled in the guest bedroom napping. While I was napping he built us a new dining room table. When I say that he is my better half, I mean it! He has been meaning to make us a new table for some time now & we couldn’t find the perfect legs or we couldn’t decide on what we wanted it to look like. We both finally decided that we just needed a new table so he decided to experiment & if we wanted a new one we could simply put the one we built in our booth. Sometimes when you over-think things you can get overwhelmed & than the project never gets done. Mr. LMB built us this super simple farmhouse table & I’m in love. Here is a few quick photos I took of it in our dining room today. For now we placed a bench on one side of the table, but we will be replacing it soon with another one that fits better. We are also on the hunt for two end chairs for the table as well. Needless to say the space is far from finished, but this is what it looks like today with the newly built farmhouse table…
.
I love the simplicity of the table & the two tone stain with white paint. I painted the bottom in Maison Blanche Ivory & Mr. LMB stained the top in Minwax special walnut. After the paint was dry I used sandpaper to distress the bottom of the table & then I used Maison Blanche clear wax to seal the bottom of the table. I really want to add a chunky bench & replace this bench we just had around the house & placed there. I also want to add two upholstered end chairs to the table as well. I think the simple table allows for me to add all of those things in this small space. I’m hoping the new bench also tucks under the table so it will add more space to the room as well. To see how Mr. LMB made this table you can see all the details on his blog [here].
We are so excited about our new DIY farmhouse table & whenever Mr. LMB builds us something it is just extra special & adds so much meaning to our home. I can’t believe I married someone so loving & talented as he is. Ok, enough lovey dovey stuff, but really he’s amazing. Head on over to his blog [here] to see how to make your own & let me know what you guys think in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram.

I love love love that table! I wish I had the space for a farmhouse table in my apartment, but right now there’s no way it would fit. Maybe I can convince my husband to make a smaller version 🙂

Your new table fits the space well and looks so much better than the old. Great job hubby!
Love your new table! He did a great job on it.
Liz, the table is gorgeous! I have a tall farm table and am having the most difficult time finding seating. Your table looks like it is on the tall side. Is it normal table size or tall like an antique farm table and if tall. How is the seating you have? TIA!!!
He built a table while you napped????? My hubby, bless his soul, can’t even hammer a nail into the wall. He has other talents, but when it comes to DIY, he is not very handy. Love the table and the way you styled it!
Best,
Michelle from simplysantabarbara.blogspot.com
P.S. Pop over to my blog to see its new design!
I love every single thing about the room, but the table is so pretty and I love the shutter on the bench! Gorgeous!
That table is fabulous! There’s nothing like a hand built table to add character to a dining room.
Table is just lovely – a real success 🙂
YES!!! I was just going to say that.. just build it a little smaller. Ours maybe should have been smaller because our dining room is a little packed. But that’s what’s great about these builds is you can customize them. I hope you get to build one soon.. let me know if you do! xx
Amen.. nothing like it!!! xx
Thank you Gill! That means a lot 🙂
Thank you Karen! That shutter bench is one of my favorite things that Jose has built. So thank you for that! xx
LOL Michelle… your comment made me laugh so hard! I get it.. we all have talents.. now if I tried to build it myself it might not have been so pretty. 😉 thanks for the laugh! xx
Thank you Terry! I agree!! 🙂 xx
Hey April! It is “normal” height. It’s the same height as the other two tables that we have so I would say that is “normal” and our seating is 16 inches tall I believe. I think it looks taller too because it’s white on the bottom and the top is thinner. Hope that helps!!!xx
The table looks great! I would like to have one but like the other guys, I only live in a studio type unit and there’s no way that kind of table would fit in. Thanks for sharing this one Liza Marie!
This is an interesting project Liza! I do hope that I can also find a similar chair that I could possibly use to my coming project. Thanks for sharing this one.

Hi there just wanted to give you a quick heads up and let you know a few of the pictures aren’t loading correctly.
I’m not sure why but I think its a linking issue. I’ve tried
it in two different internet browsers and both show the same outcome.
Where did you purchase your chairs?
