We had these lamps from Target in our master bedroom for almost forever. & I really did love them, but you know how I always change things around here. Anyways, I was feeling like the lamps were a little on the “orange” side. Maybe I’m wrong, but that’s how I was feeling. I decided to take some white wax & experiment a little with them & see what happened. I think it’s pure magic…
Here is the lamps before…
Not bad, but I knew I could make them even better for our home. I believe these lamps are still for sale at Target by the way for those of you wanting them. This DIY project is so easy. Literally one step! I simply took the white wax from Maison Blanche & brushed it all over the lamps in no particular way. After I cover the whole lamp I wiped off the wax with a rag. That’s it. This is the comparison of the lamps with & without wax…
After I was done waxing the lamps, we both decided that the lamps would look good in the living room on the card catalog so we tried them down there…
What do you think of our waxed lamp makeover? Not the best photos, but you get the idea. & yes I will be finishing this card catalog soon. Now that the Farmgirl Flea is over I will have more time to work on lovely things like this again. I love the lamps even more now & I love the character the wax added to the lamps as well. I’m finding out that you can wax just about anything to give it a whole new look. I just waxed some pumpkins [here] a few weeks ago & I love how they turned out! Let me know what you think of our newly waxed lamps below & let me know some things you have waxed lately. Besides your body parts because I don’t want to hear about that. Hope your week is going well friends & as always THANK YOU for stopping by my little blog. Be sure to find me on Facebook & Instagram. xx
Well done:-)
I like the new look of the lamps.
But what I really love is this drawers libraries, it’s my must have and my dream that unfortunately hasn’t come true yet:-(
Greetings:-)
You have no idea how how excited i am that you used this technique to change your lamp bases….my master bedroom furniture is a similar color to your ‘before’ lamp but i would be so much happier with the after!! I’m going to experiment tomorrow. You have a wonderful day 🙂
Amazing transformation! I have never used wax, can it be put on furniture that already has poly finish? How long does it take to cure?
Lookin Good! Please share a full post with us about the flea market you hosted.
They look great! I understand what you mean by “too orange” because in our old house I always felt our cabinet stain was “too orange” and everyone thought I was crazy… I’m so glad I am not alone! haha!
I am gaga for the Lime Wax, and I just happened to have bought a smaller version of that same lamp a few days ago! Great idea. Love your blog!
Seriously love the difference the lime wax made. Your blog is one of my favorites and thanks for your great ideas!
Seriously love the look of the wax finish! Could you give us the name of the lamps at Target? Thanks!
I have been thinking about doing this, too! I just bought a lamp that was the perfect shape, but the color is just a little bit off to me. I have been wondering if this would work. Off to buy some white wax! Thanks for sharing!!
