Today’s blog post is kind of a brag post. Or is a shameful one? I can’t decide. We moved into this house a year ago & I’ve done ZERO organization. Nothing like life getting crazy to motivate you to get your act cleaned up. Stop number one? Our tiny upstairs linen closet. It was embarrassing. If anyone came over and needed a towel I would slow motion run at them and block them before they could get to the closet. It was that bad. I wanted to clean the closet up & make some simple changes that would make a drastic change. Here is what the closet looked like today after I completed the cleanup…
See how tiny this closet is? My main goal was to maximize the space, organize it, & just make the small space really efficient for us. The goal was not to be magazine worthy, but truly functional. Don’t judge me, but this is a quick iphone shot of what it looked like before I did a little work on it…
So bad. So so so so bad. & now after an hour of really going at it…
So much better!!! What I did: I first started by getting rid of anything out of the closet that we no longer needed. I then painted the shelves in Mud Paint manor white. I purchased some baskets from Marshalls to put all of the loose items in from bed sheets, towels, extra bathroom items, & cleaning products for the upstairs. I labeled the baskets with chalkboard labels from Michaels [Jose wrote on them, his hand writing is bomb] I then added an over-the door hanger from Home Goods to hang my broom & dust pan with. We chose to only have 3 shelves because we wanted the hamper from World Market to be super accessible when we throw our laundry in it & we felt that the shelf would get in the way. So light & bright. I love it & now I won’t be embarrassed if someone decided to open the forbidden linen closet door.
I don’t know what it is that has been motivating me to clean up our house, but that’s the kind of mood I am when I get home from the store. I hope this post motivates you to tackle those embarssing messes in your house. It doesn’t have to be extravagant or cost a ton of money. You can do it! Let me know what you think of our linen closet organization in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you as always for stopping by my little blog & for sharing it with your friends & family.. it means so much! xx
Thank you. I love this post. I have two closets in my small home exactly like this. I will be copying and doing something similar.
That’s what I’m talking about. A. organized closet makes me happy.
When someone writes an post he/she maintains the plan of a
