A little shop update for you guys! The Found Cottage has been a major part of my life since we opened in January so I really want to include it here on the blog once in a while & keep you guys updated on this big part of my life. I have been wanting to share this with you guys since before we even opened up our store doors, but today seems like a great day to share this fun makeover with you guys. When we got our store in December it was not our style at all. The walls were multi-color paint & it just didn’t have our flare. Is our store completely done now? NOT AT ALL. We got our store ready to open in less than a month & we knew because we opened the door so quickly that it wouldn’t be exactly how we wanted it right when we opened, but that we would eventually get there & we are on our way there now. If I waited until we were “finished” with the store, we would be waiting forever. So why not show the progress? Our store changes daily & each week we have to slightly re-do the store because by Saturday when we close the store is empty & needing a complete refresh. This is our biggest problem at the moment.. being too busy. Not a bad problem at all, but we are trying to get our shipping going so the busyness in store is delaying that, but no fear friends shipping will be coming soon. After that little store update let’s take a peak at where we started & where we are at now…
So here was the store right when we got it not including the side room, the front or the back room. Just a little glimpse at the main big room & all the wall colors that were there…
& a few photos I quickly snapped the other day of how our little store, The Found Cottage in Hudsonville Michigan, looks now..
I didn’t get any photos of a few rooms, but here is just a glimpse of how some of it looks. I will be back later with more photos & a full tour. Seriously such a big difference though! Not only because we filled it with lovely items, but also because we painted the walls Benjamin Moore Dove White which made a good background. We also layered the floors with my favorite rugs from RugsUSA.com [here]. The natural fiber rugs hold up really well in store traffic & add another layer on top of the carpet. I also use them in my house which is nice because it carries our style into the store. I did a review post on the rugs [here] with the pros & cons if you want to check that out, but now that we use them in the store as well it’s a whole new level of obsessed. Like I said before, our store changes daily so this is just a little glimpse into what it looks like today, but I will be back with more store updates soon. Have you been to our store yet? Do you follow us on Instagram? We are having so much fun & it’s been an awesome blessing in our lives. Don’t get me wrong, we are super tired & we work very hard, but being a store owner was a dream & it’s come true. Thank you for your love & support of our little store. We are growing, learning, & changing daily. We started out really quickly and hit the ground running. We got thrown into being shop owners & it’s been a whirlwind since the day our doors opened. You can follow the store on facebook [here] & Instagram [here] to keep up with us daily. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today, it means so much to me! xx
Ps. Do you have any specific questions about the store? I would love to answer your shop questions in a future post. Leave your questions below!! xx
Looks amazing Liz! Maybe one day I’ll make my way over there from NJ. The hubby is surprised me with a trip to the Silos for this birthday, so maybe next year he’ll take me there ; )
Congrats on all your success!
Seriously?! The yellow floral chair? The pink retro fridge? The mint green school chairs?! I cannot take it. I want it all. Now to figure out how to get to Michigan and where to rent a U-Haul for the trip home. Amazing stuff, friend!
Your store looks incredible, Liz! I wanna come visit!
What a transformation! Your store looks incredibly inviting…I just started learning about you from a picture that popped up on Pinterest, back in 2014 when you were in NC! So I’ll have to catch up and learn more about the journey to MI. I’m in VA so I’m looking forward to when you have shipping available:) Good luck with everything!
Hello Liz, love the Pictures of the store. I did see on one of your blog posts pics of a booth you did burlap ceiling? Maybe a post from the past. My question/s would be can you share any tips on starting a booth in a Co-op space. I am currently thinking of getting a booth at a local Co-op/Antique Mall. Would appreciate anything you might be able to share. Thanks! Love your website!
