I am so thrilled to be sharing this post with you guys today of the 2016 Dream Home Tour! If you follow me on Instagram, Facebook, Snap Chat, Periscope, or Twitter you know that last week I went to Orlando with my absolute favorite company, GMC, to view the HGTV Dream Home. I WAS SO EXCITED. Ask everyone that went with me. I was like a kid on Christmas morning & as we drove up to the house my heart was racing & I was so excited to get inside that I think I squealed once or twice. But let’s back up a little & start at the beginning of the lovely day we went to go see the house. We first got to take a ride in the all new 2017 GMC Acadia which was an amazing experience in itself. It was so fun testing out the new SUV & playing with all the fun technology like lane assist that moves you back into your lane if you drift out of your lane [so cool & it actually works! we tested it.], the onboard wi-fi in the vehicle [we all know I need wi-fi every second of the day], & the following distance indicator [no tailgating anymore for this girl.], are just a few of my favorite features I got to experience during my drive. I also found it interesting that they had rear seat reminder which tells you if you left anything in your backseat. I had never heard of this concept so it intrigued me. I was in the car with Courtney from French Country Cottage & Danielle from Finding Silver Pennies & I was chosen to drive first so I got to experience highway driving in the Acadia Denali & I felt like I was driving in a safety bubble which I’m thankful for because I’m not going to lie I always kind of freak out when I drive a new vehicle that I’m not used to. There was construction & I wasn’t familiar with the road, but thankfully for the blindspot assistance I didn’t have to worry about switching lanes. I don’t perform well under pressure so this helped a lot. I also love the look of the new Acadia compared to the older models because it’s sleeker & more “boxy” look if that makes sense. The drive in the Acadia paired with the tour of the HGTV Dream Home made me feel like a princess for the day & made me dream of owning both which was quite fun for the day. It was the perfect start to the tour & we drove the Acadia from Orlando to Merrit Island & finally landed at the Dream Home. Here is a tiny glimpse of my tour I got to take…
As soon as we pulled up we saw this…
It was a beautiful 90 degree day & the sun was shining so we walked to the back of the house to check that out first before going inside…
The view was stunning to say the least with the pool & the water view. The house has a long dock on the water & the view was unreal. That was the first thing that sold me about this house. It really was a dream. The thing I liked most about this house? It was a remodel & not a complete build. I love that HGTV chose to take an older home & give it a new life since that is what Liz Marie Blog is all about. You can see the makeover with before & after photos [here]. After we toured the outside of the house we went in…
The living room looked out onto the beautiful patio & the water. It had a relaxed cozy coastal vibe that I totally loved. It had a neutral pallet which I was totally into as well. The living room looked into the dining room & the kitchen…
& from there I went into the sitting room which really surprised me…
This room was the coziest in the whole house. I could have laid on one of the sofas and napped. We all know I’m super neutral & this house was far from my usual style, but as an interior designer I appreciated every aspect of this home & was inspired by every little detail. This room was full of texture which really added that cozy factor that I loved. From this room I headed upstairs to the master suite…
The bathroom was my favorite part of the upstairs for obvious reasons. Not shown: the large walk-in closet, the massive shower, & so much more. I loved that the bathroom was filled with natural light & just seemed like a place where one could come and relax for the night. My bathroom is an 1/8th of this size so just the overall square footage of the room was impressive to me. The bedroom overlooked the backyard which is the pool, patio, & the dock leading to the water so basically it’s the best view in the house. The patio off the master I’m sure will be one of the most used areas in the home. Next I stopped in the lower level two bedrooms..
& bedroom number two downstairs..
I LOVED that blue room so much. It was the most “Liz Marie” of the entire house which really made me smile. The antique elements, the neutral pallet, & that hanging hammock chair made me want to move right in. I’m thinking our casa needs a hammock chair. what do you think? & who can forget about the dog house…
There was so much more to the house & the Acadia that I could keep talking about, but it’s 3:00am & this little lady has to get to bed. I hope that this little glimpse into both was fun for you to see. it’s always fun seeing things from other peoples eyes & this tour was so fun for me to take you guys along on. A HUGE thank you to GMC for inviting me on this amazing adventure & for introducing me into two things with amazing design. I even got to meet the designer of the home, Brian Patrick Flynn, which was such an honor. He is so down to earth & really funny. He basically has it all. We also got to meet a few of the designers of the GMC Acadia & it was really neat to see the two worlds combine & how they overlap. Who knew! I learned a lot this trip & saw so many beautiful things I truly hope you enjoyed this tiny little glimpse into it all. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by my blog today it really means a lot. Be sure to find me on Facebook & Instagram to keep up with me. xx
