A few weeks ago I blogged that Jose was making some candlestick holders [here]. He’s a super handy guy & I wish I had half of his talent. Anyways, He had some leftover smaller candleholders so he made a three-tiered tray for me.. because why not? Trays trump flowers always. So I decided to share it with you guys today & show you how you can make your own DIY three-tiered tray for yourself. It’s super easy so this post isn’t groundbreaking, but hopefully, it gives you a good idea of how you can make one for yourself & customize one for your space…
So, if you don’t have anyone in your life making your candlesticks then guess what? You can just use some pre-made ones from Target. World Market, or another store [like these here]. The wooden circles were purchased from the hardware store [check Home Depot, Lowes, Michaels, hobby lobby etc..] To make the three-tiered tray we first painted all the parts [two candle holders, three wood circles, & three mini “candle holders” for the feet] After the paint dried we screwed all the parts together. That’s it. We started by screwing the “feet” to the bottom larger wooden disk. The feet aren’t necessary, but we just wanted to use some. You could find some little candle holders, blocks of wood, or some painted metal canister lids that are smaller. I’m sure you can find something. After the feet were attached to the bottom disk we then screwed the taller candle holder to the bottom wood circle & the middle wood circle. After the taller candleholder was connected to the bottom circle & the middle circle we then attached the shorter candle holder to the middle wood circle and the top circle. That seemed harder than it really is, but remember I’m just a terrible teacher & it’s actually really easy. Here are some wooden candle holders from world market [here] shown below that I had around our house that would help make a great three-tiered tray…
Seriously once you find all the parts or make the parts like Jose did, it’s so easy to put together. These trays can be so customizable & can be made with metal cake pans, wood log slices, plates, & so much more. You can use screws or you can choose to use wood glue or other stronghold glue.
Seriously there are SO MANY different ways to make these three-tiered trays, but this is how we made this one & a few other ideas on how you can make your own. I know these babies can be hard to find sometimes so I hope this helps some of you who have been looking for one! What do you think of your DIY three-tiered tray? I just threw some of my mason jars on it to style it quickly & this is how it looked right now when I took the photos, but I think I’m going to go play around with it a little more and style it differently. That’s what is so fun about these trays, you can literally style them in so many different ways with different items. Have you made a three-tiered tray before? How did you make yours? Let me know what you think in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. As always, thank you from the bottom of my heart for stopping by my blog today!
xx Liz Marie
See another three tiered tray we did [here].
Super cool. Never thought of making one myself. Might make an odd shaped one, since I like things a little different. Have a great day!
What a great idea! I feel like I should have known about this a few years ago & made one for my wedding dessert table haha. I had no idea it could be this easy! Thanks for the tutorial, I will definitely try to make one of these soon 🙂
I found a large wooden circle for the bottom but can’t find the top two wooden circles. I looked at Hobby Lobby and Joanns too. Where did you find your wooden circles?? Love your blog! Thanks!
