A couple weekends ago I was at the store working, Saturday’s at our store are my favorite, & Jose was so sad that I was going to be gone for the day. It’s rough being away from your best friend am I right? But you got to do it sometimes. Anyways, Jose was so sweet & said he wanted to go out with his mom to some garage sales. I knew he was probably looking for some tools & of course wanted to hang out with his mom because life gets busy & we need to make time for the people we love. To my surprise when I got home from work Jose had the wagoneer loaded up with some small furniture pieces. My true soul mate. One of the pieces he found was this antique radio book shelfy thingy. That’s the technical term for it. I honestly don’t know what it is, but it’s cute & I was excited to get to painting it. Better yet? I wanted to try out the new Magnolia Home paint line & I had the perfect color in mind…
It was looking a little like this before I painted it…
Here is after one coat of me painting this piece…
The fabric stapled in there was a little dusty & the whole piece was begging for a little makeover so I used a tiny sample pot of the Magnolia Home paint in antique rose. So far I’m in love with the paint line & the colors, but I haven’t used them too much so I’ll be back later with a full review. But I do love this soft blush color so much. Here is how the piece is looking now…
To get this look I dry brushed a few layers of the antique rose color over the piece. I wanted a little bit of the wood sticking through so I went lighter on the edges & certain areas. After the paint was dry I sealed it with some Annie Sloan clear wax. In the beginning I thought I would stick some vintage floral paper in the cutout area, but after I was done painting I decided to keep it simple & leave the cutout flower open. I took photos as the sun was setting, but it looks so much better in person.. I wish you could all come and see it for yourselves! I do need something painted in this color in our home…
Seriously such a fun makeover! & this color really inspired me to bring more color into my furniture painting adventures, so stay tuned for that. This piece would be so cute in a little girls room or a powder room for storage. The possibilities are endless. I’m bringing this baby to the Found Cottage because quite frankly I don’t have a place for this blushing bride, but I know it will be so adorable in someone else’s home. ooooh I love that window pane door cabinet. It’s such a cute idea. I was enjoying the vintage radio makeover blog post when I scrolled and saw the glass paned door cabinet idea and just in time as I am re-doing our kitchen and want to do something different so I think if I can find two glass paned doors I’m all set:-) Thanks for the inspiration. Thnak God for bloggers:-)
