Our farmhouse is painted!! It’s finally reveal day for our painted farmhouse!! It was a super gloomy weekend & not really a fun one to take pictures of our casa, but I couldn’t wait any longer! A few weeks ago I shared that we were going to get our house painted & then I shared with you the drama of getting our house painted after that. Well, guess what? It’s painted!! After being ditched by our last painter last minute we were so so so so lucky to book a painter that same day who started painting our house that week & finished it in two days! I mean.. how lucky are we? The painters did an amazing job & we are so in love with how beautiful it looks with the new color even though the outside of the house is far from done. It is finally turning into our vision of our dream farmhouse that we’ve had for all of these years & that is pretty crazy. Now of course these “before & after” photos are really “before & progress” photos because the exterior is far from done, but it is painted & we are quite excited about that…
What it looked like before…
& after it’s new paint color…
There she is!! She went from a beautiful blue farmhouse to a stunning classic white farmhouse in a matter of two days. The color we chose for our home is Behr White. We used Behr Marquee paint because we wanted to choose a paint that had the primer built in & would do a good job at covering the blue up. My BIGGEST fear is that the blue would show through the paint, so I’m thankful that didn’t happen. I was also so nervous about picking the “right white”. Whites are so hard to choose! I didn’t want anything too pink, too blue, too yellow, too gray, too brown. I mean, it was a struggle! But my biggest piece of advice is to do multiple swatches on your house [or wherever you are painting] side by side to see how that particular color will look on the house & in different light. I was shocked to see the difference between all of the white swatches. I realize now I should have opened all the curtains so you could see more contrast between the windows & siding, but when I tell you I ran outside to quick take photos, that is exactly what I did. I couldn’t wait any longer, I had to share!
Before the painters started with the paint they pressure washed the whole entire thing because it was quite dirty to say the least. I mean it’s an old farmhouse she was supposed to be dirty! After that they did prime the siding first just so that we had double protection that the paint would go on wonderfully because no one wanted to paint the house two or three times. The painters used a sprayer to spray the entire house with the Behr Marquee paint & the finish is so smooth & seamless. Before we painted we removed all of the shutters off of the house & the biggest question right now is if we will be putting the shutters back on. The answer? Not sure yet. We have a bunch of options on how to complete the exterior & I think we might leave it a blank slate for a while until we decided & get a better feel of what we want. We know for sure we will be getting new exterior doors & so maybe we will wait until then, but you know I will keep you updated every step of the way. For now, our house is fresh, clean, & white.
Now that our house is white, I have even started on decorating our porch. I didn’t really do much before because I knew we would be changing up the look of the house so I was holding myself back a little. You can see what I have been up to behind the scenes on my Instagram [here] & my Facebook [here]. & Now that the paint color is what we wanted, we can start doing more work to the exterior as well like landscaping, windows, doors, lighting, & so much more! Stay tuned! I hope you guys like the changes we are making here at the farm. This was a huge step in our journey of making our farmhouse our own. Still doesn’t feel real that our house is white… I think I need a full day of just staring at it for it to feel real. Let me know what you think & as always THANK YOU so much for stopping by my blog, it means so much to me! xx
