Today is the official first day of fall. I know I’ve been hearing a lot of people talk about how fall is every girls favorite season & it’s kind of a joke, but I don’t just love fall, I cry at the thought of it ending. I think it’s the hope & the promise that the new season brings. Like spring, fall is a starting point for so many things. It’s a new exciting beginning filled with adventure filled days & cozy nights. I’m not much of a “sun” person or a “heat” person so fall was kind of made for me. Something about fall awakens my soul & brings out my need to explore my creativity & try new things. To me fall is magical & filled with all things I love from the food, to the weather, to the parties, to the decor, to the smells, to the…. I could keep going. I’m especially looking forward to experiencing fall in our new farmhouse here on White Cottage Farm. I’m also excited to be sharing fall with you guys here on the blog, on my Facebook, Instagram, & Pinterest. I just want to share to share the joy of fall, the excitement of the new season, & make moments of your day a little brighter with some autumn inspiration. I hope you enjoy it. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love every season for their own reasons, but fall will always have a special place in my heart. & don’t get me started on pumpkin flavored everything & cozy sweaters. Ok, I’m done. Maybe I am that crazy pumpkin spice obsessed girl who freaks out at the first leaf I see fall to the ground, but I guess this is me owning up to it. I love fall. To celebrate the first day of fall I put together a rustic heirloom pumpkin table in our farmhouse with pumpkins I picked up from a local farm stand & pears from our farm. What better way to celebrate the first day of my favorite season than working with some of my favorite fall natural elements…
Playing with these pumpkins & pears today I just realized how much better the real thing is. You just can’t mimic real pumpkins and nature. To create this super simple rustic heirloom pumpkin & pear centerpiece I laid out my linen table runner from All Modern. On top of that I laid branches from our pear trees. On the branches I placed a few of my favorite heirloom pumpkins that we had picked up from our local farmstead after I had wiped them all down. When the pumpkins were in place I mixed in some pears from our farm. On each of the plates that are also from All Modern I placed a pear. Seriously the most simple fall centerpiece, but it screams fall & that’s all that matters.
So excited for this season that is upon us, but I am going to make a promise to myself on this first day of fall. I want to be conscious and in the moment each day this autumn. I want to take in all of the senses of fall from smell to touch to sight to taste to sounds. I won’t let this fall pass me by with being too busy. Fall is far to special of a season to not soak in every single second of it. I know I’m not the only fall loving person out there so I hope this is a tiny reminder to not let this season pass you by because it will be over before we know it. Now go & enjoy it!! Happy Fall Ya’ll!! Thank you so much from the bottom of my heart for stopping by my blog everyday & for following along with our farmhouse fixer upper journey. We appreciate every single one of you. I can’t believe how fast you have transformed this space. You and your hubby have done such a fabulous job with every detail, but I can’t figure out how you have done it so quickly? We started living and working on our farmhouse over two years ago. We spend every spare moment and dollar fixing it up ourselves, only hiring people to do structural, plumbing and electric work. I think our farmhouses are about the same age, because I see a few similarities. We too have touches of the 50s, 70s, & 80s to clear out, but tons of original 1893 details remain. I love the design choices you guys have made and I think painting everything white has added so much light to your dining room! You have an eye for decorating that makes me giddy! I just love seeing everything you do! I just wish you could bring those speedy amazing skills to Kansas and give us a hand…
I felt like you were talking about me with your love for fall.. I love fall and winter and I’m not a heat “sun” girl either… Happy Fall Liz!! Your table looks so nice. I love the variety of pumpkins and how nice is it for you to be able to go pick fresh pairs from your farm..
Omg I meant to say pears not pairs.. Haha I do know how to spell!! I can’t tell you how much your decorating inspires me. I have taken so many tips from your style of decorating and searched for similar decor for my home.. Thank you!!
Can I ask where you got your chandeliers?? I’m looking for something just like this!
