While I was gone in Texas last week Jose had some extra time in his workshop & made something that I’m a little obsessed with & wanted to share with you today. With all the shiplap and things going on inside the house with our fixer upper, he was really missing his passion of creating new furniture pieces & building for the fun of it. & I missed seeing what he was up to in the workshop as well so this was a nice surprise to come home to. I guess some time apart isn’t always a bad thing when pretty things like this come from it….
Check out these DIY nesting boxes he made! We have some antique nesting boxes like this in our house that you can see a photo of [here] in our last home & Jose decided to mimic them which I thought was kind of a genius idea because I truly love our nesting boxes & they work for so many different things. He shared how to make these today on his blog [here]. The best part of these is they are completely customizable with size & stain/paint colors. They work great for styling & organizing kids rooms, craft rooms, bedrooms, & more. Also they make great entryway tables, tv stands, sofa tables, & so on. Or you could use them for their intended purpose & put them in a chicken coop for a true nesting box. It’s up to you. For now I’ve styled it on our front porch with some of my fall decor.
Jose’s inspiration from our authentic nesting boxes:
& his version:
Most of these items I got from our store, The Found Cottage, here in Michigan like those lovely faux pumpkins. The apples pillow is from So Vintage Chic [here], the olive buckets are from Target, the greenery is from Ikea, & that beet pillow is from Fabric Scout [here]. I thought about bringing these nesting boxes to our store, but now that I have them styled here I think I might just need to keep them. What do you think of Jose’s DIY nesting boxes? Be sure to visit his blog to see how he made them [here]. Let us know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today.. it truly means a lot to us. xx

Love, love, love.
I think Jose’s nesting boxes are amazing! They look just like vintage ones. Excellent job! I love they way you styled them! I didn’t know Target had olive buckets. Just may have to check them out. Love your Instagram feed and your blog! You truly are gifted when it comes to making a home.
