Every Christmas I can’t avoid one thing. This thing always sucks me in & I simply can’t stay away. Want to know what that thing is? The Target Dollar Spot!! It’s the best & the worst all at the same time. Last week when I was innocently walking into Target I tried walking past the dollar spot [they put it in front for a reason] but as soon as I was walking by I spotted the cutest little Christmas village homes that I had to have…
Seriously, how cute is that dollar spot village? They are actually really good quality & made from ceramic with a matte white finish. The best part is that you can put a candle in the houses to light them up at night. I haven’t tried that yet in fear that I may crack one, but stay tuned to my Instagram because I’m sure I will try lighting them all soon. I also got those little white bottle trees from Target as well [sadly not in the dollar section]. I blogged this Christmas mantel a few days ago here, & adding this little christmas village is probably my favorite Christmas decor we have in our home now.
I ended up buying 3 of each style & I arranged them on the mantel with some bottle trees. Honestly before Christmas I planned on doing more to this mantel like add a backing & all of that, but time has been limited so decorating the mantel as is was my best option. I say it a lot, but it has been an interesting journey decorating our farmhouse while we are doing full on construction in our home. These are the good old days & I’m not complaining one bit. It’s the little things like these dollar spot ceramic houses that bring me joy while decorating for the holidays.
If you haven’t stopped at your local Target’s dollar spot yet, I totally suggest checking it out for cute Christmas decor finds like these. They are cute & affordable.. what more could you want? Have you guys picked up any holiday friends from the Target dollar spot yet? What do you think of my DIY Christmas village from their? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. xx
Liz I love this idea of the little village. I’m going to pop on over to the dollar store and look for some cheap ones to spray paint in white. Thanks for all your great inspiration.
What about using the battery powered tea lights instead of real ones… the. You will not have to worry about one cracking… I have stopped and lined those little houses up 4 times since they came out… even thought of putting white glitter on the roof of them… I have walked away without any everytime… well not the next time I go for sure!
I bought those houses too! Well I bought about $60 from the dollar spot section. It is really cute this year, I could not resist. Your mantle looks adorable!
I suggest buying the led string lights from the dollar spot. They are called Starry Lights and come in warm white . The little box that holds the batteries can easily be hidden behind the end garland on your mantle. Very easy to turn on and off..
Liz,
I was just at our Target in Kalamazoo and there weren’t any 🙁 Here’s hoping they get them in! I adore your fireplace and all of the accessories! Very nice job styling (as always!). Thank you for sharing these little white beauties!

Beautiful! So wintery! I have a lot of lanterns and houses etc and love the glow of lights in them. I get the battery operated candles that have 5 hour timers so that they automatically come on every evening at 5 and off at 10…that way I don’t run all over the place turning them on and off plus it’s nice to come home to all that glowing everywhere! I have found them in all different sizes and shapes. Safe and easy…
Love the wood sign. Where can I get something like that?
Love those little houses!!! We had colored ones when I was little with tissue paper window on top of Angel hair!7
Beautiful! Where did you get the big sign with the quote on it? Etsy? What store?
