You guys might not believe it but, I painted a white piece of furniture black with Chalk Paint. Yes, you read that right. The girl who always paints everything white, painted a white dresser black. I got this dresser from my friend in North Carolina who owned my favorite little antique shop ever, The Black Swan. If you are in Eastern North Carolina you have to check it out. She meant a lot to me & the little pieces I collected over time from her still mean a lot to me as well. This little guy was adorable, but needed a little love. The funny thing is is that I had painted this dresser white this past summer & since then it sat in the garage because I didn’t love it. It was too plain & had no character. So in steps my favorite chalk paint & wax from Maison Blanche & I brought it back to life…
Here was the dresser before a few years ago in our North Carolina rental…
& after my sad attempt at painting it this summer…
& how it looks now…
So how did I get this look? Super easy! I first painted the dresser with two layers of Maison Blanche chalk paint in wrought iron. After it dried I brushed on some of the lime wax in white after a few minutes I used a rag to wipe off the white lime wax & it gave this lovely chalky effect over the black chalk paint.
I love how the white wax onto of the chalk paint, really makes the dresser pop & brings out all of the detail. I think this is my new favorite little dresser. I will say it again.. I love the power of paint! What do you think of this dresser makeover? have you used the black chalk paint/white wax combo before? It’s quite magical! Absolutely love it! Much better this color vs white
I love how you left the ellipse detail at the bottom white. I’ve yet to try liming anything but I really want to! And yes it does look better than the white!
It looks amazing Liz! Great choice of color. It looks perfect in that room, styled!
Liz I love this look with the lime wax on top. It has so much more interest.
Sigh……Just fabulous…
I live in eastern North Carolina. In what town is the Black Swan located?
