Ok ok ok… if you know me, you know sometimes I jump the gun on things & don’t do things in the proper order. Well, nothing new here. A few months ago I shared with you guys this kitchen island that we were putting in our kitchen. Well, after a few minor changes in our kitchen plans & a new cupboard/appliance choice, we realized that it was going to be too big for the kitchen. Oh, great. So back to the drawing board we went & we found another piece shortly after that that we liked & thought would work… again too long for comfort. & then I became the luckiest girl in the world when I walked into a local antique store this past weekend & spotted this perfectly petite old store counter that was the perfect piece for our kitchen island…
Isn’t she pretty? I found her at the cutest little shop in our area & she honestly had everything I wanted. Warm wood tones, vintage charm, a real marble top, storage in the back, & so much more. It’s also not massive so it will work in our kitchen very well. You see, we could go bigger, but then it will intrude on our sunroom area & I really want to get the most out of that space because before we tore the whole kitchen/sunroom area up, we used the sunroom more than any room in the whole house. Here is the island in our crazy fixer upper kitchen that has been at a stand still for months now, but should have some exciting changes coming very soon…
Can you picture it all? I feel so hopeful about our kitchen now because of this island & it has motivated me so much that we won’t be without a kitchen forever. I mean, we haven’t had a kitchen since March & I’m so so so ready to have one again! I have been feeling a little crazy & disoriented lately & I truly think it’s because we don’t have one finished room in our home & I think the kitchen is the one that I need done to feel sane again.. what a glorious day that will be! So what do you think of our new [very old] kitchen island? I’ll be sharing more pretty photos of it later when we make better progress in the kitchen, but for now you get the idea. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today! xx
Adorable. I really like this one. I bet you are ready to have a new kitchen.

By the away if any of your design clients are looking for a 8 ft. long oak, antique country store display piece (beveled 1/4″glass on top/front/sides w/three wooden shelves and sliding doors in back) in near perfect condition…I have one for sale In Pullman/Allegan County. I think this would make a terrific kitchen island in the right home.

Darling gal! It is perfect! God delights us in many ways!
It’s beautiful, love it!!
Perfect kitchen island! You really ARE one lucky girl! What an amazing find, so happy that you found the right one for your “new” kitchen. Looking forward to watching as you & Jose progress on your lovely farmhouse.
Oh, and your cows are so cute! If you can say that about cows. There is a pasture behind our house, and there are now 5 cows that live there. Today, they were directly behind our backyard, and I could hear them mooing! Almost made me feel like they are “our” cows!
Sometimes you plan and measure and figure out the perfect solution and !$?!?(& it doesn’t work. Then you are frustrated and modify and &$!?$ if happens again. You are tired and desperately want things to JUST gel. Serentipy? Luck? Divine intervention, lol … who knows. Whatever the circumstance.. you have found the perfect piece. Looks beautiful and holds a lot of stories :). Grateful for a new home and holding lots of good karma.
Stunning and perfect for the place, can’t wait to see this kitchen finiched ?
That island is so gorgeous! All of the heart eyes ????????
I’m so happy for you all, absolutely love it! This is very inspirational to me since my heart tells me that when you “put it out there”, although it may mean patience and even some proactive work finding just what is perfect , it will be in front of you when the time is right- the loving ❤️ heart that you have Faith in and true intention will over-ride the impulse decisions that are possible to have sooner! I cannot wait to read & see more of this special place you created. Blessings and much peace
The perfect piece and you’ll always appreciate it so much more. My kitchen redo is dragging on as well so I sympathize! The delay is due to those “simple” final details …a teeny shiplap wall, a subway tile backsplash. Let’s get ‘we done!
Auto-correct doesn’t like “get ‘er done”
Oh my gosh, I can’t believe you have been without a kitchen for that long? I would be so irritable by now! I would love to know what exactly the hold up has been? I haven’t seen you mention anywhere why it is taking so long. I feel for you guys, and praying you will have a finished space very soon.
