This post is different for me because it involves the color pink, but its main purpose is to document a tiny dream of mine. You see my favorite flower is the oh so beloved hydrangea. I love it for many reasons: 1. It speaks to me. 2. I find them very aesthetically pleasing. 3. My grandma loves them & I associate them with her. 4. I could keep going, but I just love them! When we moved into our farmhouse a year ago I wasn’t in love with the landscaping around the house, but there were a few hydrangea bushes that were blooming like crazy that stole my heart. My dream has always been to cover our dining room table in blooms so that’s what I did this weekend & had to share it with you guys. It’s the little dreams that come true right? I went out and gathered some hydrangeas from our yard & didn’t even get half of one of the bushes trimmed & I already had too many to fit on our dining room table…
I’m usually a white hydrangea girl, but my white hydrangeas didn’t do as well as the pink this summer so here we are. For this centerpiece I simply filled one of my antique dough bowls with the hydrangeas by laying them carefully face up. I wanted a very organic feel to the whole centerpiece so I didn’t try to place them perfectly, but more with a relaxed feel. I had this table runner from TJ Maxx forever now & the plates & chargers were from World Market. I placed a hydrangea on each of the plates & that was it. A simple sunday afternoon playing with hydrangeas. Of course this centerpiece won’t last forever & is more for fun, but that’s it… I love having fun with decor & being creative. After trying to be practical always in our fixer upper remodel, this is what my soul needs.
I love decorating with items found on our farm.. it’s seriously so rewarding. Have you guys ever filled a table with hydrangeas? What color hydrangea is your favorite? This year we will be taking out all of our landscaping here at the farmhouse & hopefully filling our yard with hydrangeas so next year our farmhouse will be framed in them. That’s a big dream & I’m hoping it comes true! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog & for sharing in my creative adventures.. it honestly means the world to me when you stop by here & when you share it with your friends and family. More than I could ever tell you! Be sure to follow me on Facebook & Instagram for behind the scenes of our farm life & to chat. xx

Oh, goodness! I love hydrangeas! My Grandmama had one near the front porch that was over six feet tall. She called it a Popcorn ball bush. It had blooms bigger than my head and the blooms were a blend of pink with a purple tint, blue with a lavender tint, lavender and blue. It was a showstopper when it was in full bloom! Your pink ones are lovely. I’m also a fan of the hydrangea bushes with the green blooms.
Hi Liz,
I also love hydrangeas. I’m in awe at their beauty. My favorite are the blue and light purple, then pink and white. They are so sweet! It’s my dream to have some bushes as well. I’m sure Grace prefers pink right? Right now I do not have any, but if I did, I would probably place them in various vases around the house. Thank you for sharing them with us!

You can influence the colors of the pink/blue variety by adjusting the pH of your soil. The flowers will be more likely to bloom pink in alkaline soil and blue in acidic soil.
Liz these photos TOOK MY BREATH AWAY!! I love white hydrangeas as well. But these pink sweeties literally steal the show and give this room the most romantic cozy vibe! It’s interesting too because I remember a couple months back when you decided to add pops of color to the house. Maybe God had a plan for these pink hydrangeas all along! 😉
Gorgeous. I love hydrangeas too. They just don’t grow well in the Texas heat.
Liz I am the same with hydrangeas and I have so many. Be sure to plant Limelights. You will love them. Leave the blooms in your dough bowl and let them dry. You will like them even more and can use them in your Fall decorating.
Liz,
How beautiful!! You have an amazing eye for decorating. Thank you for sharing
I love hydrangeas too and have a huge limelight hydrangea bush in my yard, I have heard they are poisonous to cats and dogs so sadly, I haven’t brought them into the house. I wish I knew a way around that!
Liz,
That looks absolutely gorgeous! I’m living through you since I don’t have the greenest of thumbs and my hydrangeas didn’t make it this year *sigh*. I need to know where that dough bowl is from! It’s perfection!
Best!
Kristen
Love hydrangeas! Here in the PNW they almost always turn blue after a few years in our soil. Just a heads up to anyone wanting to put them on plates that people may be eating from – they are extremely poisonous, so rinse/wash plates well before anyone eats from them in case the fluid from the stems leaked onto the plates. Also, we have to be mindful here when trimming our hydrangeas that the dogs don’t pick up and chew a stem while we are working – they can be deadly to dogs.
