I share everything with you guys usually, but for some reason I haven’t talked about this much here on the blog & I really should because it’s been taking up 80% of my time lately. Most of you know I own The Found Cottage boutique here in Michigan with two other amazing women who I look up to very much. The Found Cottage is a boutique in Hudsonville Michigan that hosts some amazing vendors and gathered items vintage & new. From home decor, to clothing, to paper goods, to gifts, to antiques.. we really have it all. We are open 5 days a week & it’s been a joy to have this store & be able to host so many amazing vendors under one roof. Well, this year very last minute [like three months ago or less] we decided that we wanted to host a little market in Holland, Michigan. If you guys haven’t been to Holland I highly recommend you put it on your list of places to visit. Anyways, It’s The Found Cottage Mercantile Market & it’s coming up in three weeks [September 1 & 2] at the Ottawa County Fairgrounds that are located right before the beaches of lake Michigan. It’s honestly the perfect location for a Labor day market.
The reason we wanted to host our mercantile market is to celebrate makers & gatherers in a beautiful destination city so that others could have all of these wonderful people in one area to see their work & experience their talents. A gathering of creatives is always a good idea. We are surrounded by SO MANY talented people daily & we wanted a chance to get them all together for community & to show off all of these amazing vendors. We want this to be a fun day for you and the people you love hanging out with to have a good time finding treasures for you, your homes, and gifts for others. We have put a ton of effort into putting this all together in such a short amount of time because we want everyone to have an amazing experience. Hosting a market isn’t easy. It’s actually really hard work. I hadn’t hosted one in a few years [I had done one locally here a few years ago] & I forgot how much went into planning every detail. So along with running the store, working on our fixer upper, taking care of the farm, being a good wife, trying to be a friend, & just living life, we have also been planning a market. If I have seemed a little scattered lately.. that could be why.
So what’s it going to be? Well, there will be about 150+ vendors who we hand selected out of tons of wonderful applications we got. We made sure to not over saturate the market in any one area so that everyone could be looked at with fresh eyes & so that everyone visiting could have a pleasant experience & not be too overwhelmed. Vendors range from Vintage, antiques, handmade items, home decor, food, florals & so much more. The best part? It’s a kickoff to the fall season so it will be your first taste of all things autumn as well. The event is two days with the VIP viewing night on Friday & an all day event on the Saturday of the holiday weekend.
What better way to say goodbye to summer than a market in Holland Michigan? If you are local I would love for you to join us [HERE], but if you aren’t I promise to share it with you on social media & here on the blog. If you want to buy tickets early for the early buyer price you can do so [HERE] & visit the event page [HERE] to see who all of these amazing vendors are that are coming. Thank you guys so much for always supporting everything that we do & for loving me even when I’m crazy and scatter brained… y’all are the best! I hope you come & hang out with me on September 1 & 2.. it’s going to be so much fun! See you there! Feel free to share this blog post & the event page with all your friends & family to spread the word!! xx
Is the event outside or inside?
