We have a light in the office!! Also a new rug which is equally as exciting. Jose and I have been a little stressed lately to see the least. Attacked from all ends you could say. From our upcoming market, to fixer upper fails, to work, to other life things. We just want peace. One step we have taken is taking more “us” time. I say it all the time, but how lucky are we to be best friends and get to spend every day together? Well, with our lifestyle we still need to be intentional about hanging out and not always working on the house or other life things so date nights and intentional hang outs & cuddle sessions have been a must lately & really focusing on each other. Clearly this means date nights & on our date night last Saturday we ended up at Home Goods & World Market & magically we found a rug we loved & a light fixture we are obsessed with for our office. Along with the laughs, the relaxation, & good food, it added up to one successful date night & that’s a win for us lately when it seems like we are losing at every angle.
The light fixture [HERE] is from World Market & I instantly fell in love with the simple farmhouse vibe & the feminine delicacy that it had. The only thing about the light that I wasn’t obsessed with was the color. It looked black hanging up in the store, but when we got it home it was more of a dusty blue/gray. It was pretty, but for the space I wanted that black contrast in the room. So, we bought the light & a can of matte black spray paint & I went to town. If you follow me on Instagram [HERE] then you maybe saw the whole process in my Instagram stories. Jose hung it yesterday & I’m loving everything about it. It needs bulbs, but hey that’s a minor detail right?
The rug. Oh the rug. Jose actually found this one & I’m so proud of him. haha that might seem cheesy, but I don’t care… he’s good! We were wandering Home Goods when he spotted this gem & simply said “I like this one.” well I do too sir. I do too. Better yet? it was less than $200 for an 8×10 & the quality is amazing. I love a good wool rug. It’s firm so the chairs [HERE] slide over it perfectly yet cozy for texture in this little room. I hadn’t been to Home Goods in so long, but after the rug find I fell in love all over again.
The office is truly coming along! I’m taking that white cupboard out this weekend & replacing it with something else that I’m excited to show you. We still need light switch covers, window treatments, & wall decor, but it’s coming along & I’m so thankful for this space. In fact I’m sitting in here right now typing this with a candle lit & some Johnny Swim playing & it’s quite magical. I hope you guys like the updates to the office & I will hopefully have it finished soon.. stay tuned! Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today.. y’all are awesome! xx
Here are some affiliate links to all the items shown above I could find online & also some similar items.. I hope this helps!
Hi Liz Marie!
I love your updates and the office is really coming along. I love the hutch in there but I’ll be interested in seeing what else you come up with. The rug is so pretty too. I have really fallen in love with the neutral colors and can’t wait to have a farmhouse of my own one day and a little Grace to go with it!
Blessings,
Sandi
I love the rug!
Gah! I love it all. I can picture evenings in here, so lovely! I’m so happy it’s all coming together!
Love everything, can’t wait to see what you replace the hutch with ?
I love your office…love everything about your office…love everything in your office!!!! What color is the paint at the top portion of the room? Thanks ???
I love your rug and your whole office. May I ask what color you used above the white on the wall? Do you have a favorite white you use on the interiors? That is a great price for a wool rug! I wish I lived closer to come see your store. Between you and Miss Mustard Seed, I cannot get enough white and rustic farmhouse decorating! Keeo inspiring us! and thanks!

Hi Liz
I have to tell you that I have quite a few design blogs that I follow, but I truly look forward to yours the most. I love your style and creativity, but to be honest, it’s your personality I’m most drawn to. I don’t know your daily struggles (besides the ones you tell us about), and I feel so sad that you feel like you’re having difficulty from every angle. If it helps, you’re a gift to me. You’re an (almost) daily happy place for me. Stay strong and keep smiling in your heart.

Even unfinished it is dreamy peaceful! I feel your stress (me too) and I’m a lot older than you, so keep looking up “sweet Liz” through faith in him may you be blessed with peace and strength through the trials before you!
Prayers…
Of course it all looks so pretty. I love seeing the updates. And I know you get this all the time but can you just come over to my house and live with me for a week. I want to chat and pray, sit, drink coffee, talk about babies and dogs, hubbies, your beautiful hair, your gift of design, etc.. It’s only for a week. 😉 Big hugs!
Everything looks fabulous. I’m obsessed with that rug. What a find!! I may need to go to every Home Goods within an hour of me ….
Such a beautiful space! I love how light and bright it is!
That rug is amazing, I just love it…Home Goods is such a great place to find decor! I have that same chandelier in my dining room and I thought it was going to be more of a matt black too and it’s kind of a gray/black. I wish I would have painted mine black too, but really, once it was hung you really can’t tell unless you look close. The room is delightful!
Love love the rug!! Could you tell me what brand it is??
