It’s the start of fall decor here at White Cottage Farm! It’s so bitter sweet. I remember a blog post last year that I wrote [HERE] that I will elaborate again on later, but it was basically all about how the changing of the seasons are a little sting on my infertility journey because each season comes with a new set of reminders of my baron womb. But at the same time the changing of the seasons bring new hope & new joys as well. With the changing of the seasons it also brings new creativity which, even in our busy schedule, allows me to do something that I love & that I’m so passionate about. I explained yesterday on the blog why I start decorating for fall & it’s simple. To hopefully inspire someone else when they start decorating for the new season & also because… I love fall! I am starting out simple like how I decorated our sofa table in the front living room that I wanted to share with you guys today…
Just a simple little cozy cottage pumpkin display in our front entryway to get this fall decor kicked off! You could do a centerpiece like this in any area of your home from an entryway as shown here, on a coffee table, a dining room table, a buffet, & so much more. It was really easy to create this centerpiece and you could totally improvise with similar items to put your own twist on it. Ok, so what did I do? I started with a wooden tray that I had lying around. This one has a mesh bottom, but you could use any old crate or tray that you have. I then started layering pumpkins in the tray. Some of the pumpkins were from our store & a lot of them are from Michaels as well [they usually have a great pumpkin selection with coupons available as well which is nice. You can also find great fall stems like these from Michaels or Hobby lobby as well.] After I had the pumpkins generally where I wanted them, I started sticking floral stems between the pumpkins to add some texture & life to the vignette. I styled this area two ways. One way I added a black metal chair with a pumpkin pillow from old thyme market place & did a more simple centerpiece & the other way I did with just the centerpiece but added some garden metal to make it a bigger statement on its own. It was honestly the most simple thing, but what better than a pile of pumpkins and some greenery to welcome fall?
I hope most of my posts here on the blog show you how simple decorating can be. Especially for the seasons. This is just the start of fall at White Cottage Farm so stay tuned for more fall posts mixed in with our regular scheduled posts coming at you daily! Thank you SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today & for always following what we are doing in our fixer upper & fertility journey. xx
Beautiful vignette, Liz!! I just found some of those similar pumpkins and can’t wait to start decorating for Fall 🙂 You’ve definitely given me some inspiration!!
I’m hosting my first chalk-paint workshop in October and I’m planning to use a wood crate as the project piece and display it with white, green and turquoise pumpkins as an example.
Thank you for sharing your ideas and story with us!! Praying for blessings as the seasons change my friend!
