I announced it on my Instagram & I’ve been sharing photos & videos on their of all of this, but I just realized I never announced it on here! Well, Better Homes & Gardens is here at White Cottage Farm! I can’t believe it. They got in on Monday & it’s been nonstop ever since. I’m trying to soak up every moment of them being here, but it’s been pretty much a blur. I will be doing a whole recap once they leave, but for now this is kind of what we have been up to & a sneak peek at the beginning of us styling some spaces in the house…
The wonderful designer, Karin Lidbeck, flew in Monday & she got right to work. I’ve got a lot of questions wondering why a designer was coming if they wanted “my designs” in the magazine. Well, Karin said it best herself… basically Better Homes & Gardens wants something fresh and new in the magazine, something unique to the publication and not already on my blog, but completely in my style. So I’ve been working side by side with Karin this whole time from the shopping to the styling & we have had a blast! Tuesday consisted of going all around shopping for decor & florals for the shoot. We started at our store, The Found Cottage, & that made me so happy because we get to support all of the wonderful vendors in our shop. We then made it to Target, floral shops, Pottery Barn, HomeGoods… you know, all my favorite places. After that we ended up at a wonderful dahlia farm, Hope Dahlias, picking fresh dahlias for the shoot. We then went back to the farm and started styling the spaces with all of the goods. Tuesday was a dream. It was so fun to see the spaces come to life & really learn things from Karin & Brittany [from the BHG team]. I love getting in the minds of other creatives & see what they would do with the exact same space. It was fun to trade ideas & create something together.
Wednesday starts photoshoot time & I am taking you guys behind the scenes this entire week on my Instagram & Facebook so be sure to follow over there. So far my experience has been wonderful and even though our farmhouse is turned upside down for the photoshoot I don’t even care… This is a dream come true. Mostly because I grew up reading Better Homes & Gardens at my grandmas & I’ve always dreamed of the spaces on those pages & now our home is one of them. I’ll share more on here later.. they are here until Friday so it will be three full days of shooting. Wish us luck!! Thank you guys SO MUCH for loving & supporting us & for sharing in our excitement in these joys. THANK YOU. I love being on this journey with you guys in the highs & the lows… y’all are the best! xx

How exciting! I’m relatively new to your blog, but I’m enjoying it very much! I’m a bit more cottage style than farmhouse, but I love farmhouse style.

Every time my folks fixed up our home when I was growing up, they would always say that Beter Homes and Gardens would and do a photo shoot. I am so happy it actually happened for you.

May all your dreams come true as you continue decorating your home.

Loving it all!!!! Where did you find the faux yellow leaves in the glass vase on the buffet? They are fabulous!
Liz, so excited for you and Jose! You’ll have to let me/us know when this will be in print so I buy it. I hope Grace makes the cut ?
Oh, this is absolutely wonderful! I would be out of my mind if a major publication like BH&G came for a photo shoot. Your home is truly amazing and such a labor of love- and it shows in all that you both have accomplished so far at the farmhouse. I adore your style and love that you are sharing this journey with us- your home is what I want mine to be when it grows up (after I give it a total makeover). Congratulations, can’t wait to see you both & hopefully Grace, in the magazine.
Very exciting and what fun! I’m looking forward to your behind the scenes posting.
Wow!! I can understand that feeling, it is like the red carpet in the interior decorating world, what a privilege. Congratulations!! I discovered your blog, not for the interior decor, but for your journey on infertility. It caught my eye because I have a cousin who was dealing with the same issue, but your testimony of how you find peace in God has ministered to me also. This led to discover and become a fan of your style, As a matter of fact, I just did a post on my Facebook page about your blog few days ago, so I am very happy for this blessing in your life and thanks for sharing.

Congratulations, you and Jose deserve it all, you have shared so much with us and gave me so many ideas for my own home.
Love your blog and home. Can’t wait to see the pictures. So happy for you, enjoy.
I’m so very happy for you Liz & Jose…….wow, what an honor to have BHG in your home doing a photo shoot of your beautiful home and as always your creative, beautiful and talented styling! You must be on cloud nine being with the BHG team and you & Jose deserve this so much. Congrats!!!!!
Yay!! So happy for you! And this explains your crazy weekend, lol. Can’t wait to see it 🙂 A year ago today, I was at your shop and got to meet you. Blessings!
Wow, how cool is that?! What a dream come true…hopefully one of many to come! I have had people say my house looks like it could be in a magazine, but chances are that is NOT ever going to happen. Can’t wait to see the spread in Home and Garden, you always do such amazing things with your home!
Wow! That is so amazing, you are living a fantasy of mine lady! I can’t believe you got to go shopping…I am assuming on BHG’s dime…and then style your house with help from a magazine professional, ahhhhh! Do you get to keep the stuff and will you make any significant changes to your house/decor based on this experience? Did you learn any styling tips? I didn’t get to catch all the “behind the scenes” goodness, but can’t wait to see the spread. BHG is one of my favorite magazines! Such an accomplishment and so well deserved!
I’m so excited about this! It’s not surprising to me since I have loved your place and how you share so much, feeling always that it is truly all from the heart- can’t wait to see more photos, please post what you can “behind the scenes”
from the day-of the photo shoot! You are an inspiration for me, since I have been going through so much while moving into our farmhouse after many years of renting it & the 15 acre horse farm our family loves as it is our real home. While we wait to sell our cottage of 14 blessed years on the ocean of N. C., I turn to your blog, my own friends with a good eye for design, following of course “Fixer Upper” with Joanne & Chip, still trusting my own design instincts as well and knowing one day we will have a budget to begin work overhauling floors, walls, and hopefully creating total change in our baths and kitchen! Looking around ahead of time now, watching & researching things like new wood floors Ali gside resources like yourself keeps me going!
I’ve been wanting to write you in the “real mail” which we all have gotten too far away from,
and think I will do just that in celebration of your accomplishments. Best of luck, enjoy this awesome time, wow – it’s such an honor, L.M.!! I’m so proud of you and your family including your husband, lambs, pets both inside and out, give yourself a hug and don’t forget to B-R-E-A-T-H !!With love and Gratitude , Debbie Namaste’
