I can’t believe I haven’t talked about our final porch light selection with you guys yet. I think I was waiting for our porch to look perfect and clean.. well, that hasn’t happened yet so I went out today in the pouring rain as it was getting dark and snapped some natural photos of the lovely lights we picked from Barn Light Electric Co…
I’ve always dreamed of new lighting on this porch of ours since moving in. There is a total of 8 lights on the front wrap around portion of the house & I wanted to make a big statement with the lighting & I think I achieved that with the Wesco style light from Barn Light Electric Co. At first I was thinking of going something on a smaller scale, but if you know me by now my style of decorating is to go larger in scale & I love it. So, when we first got the lights delivered to the farm we went with the normal gooseneck light, but we quickly learned that when you are dealing with existing lighting boxes installed on the inside you really need to plan your arm for the height of the existing boxes.. which of course we didn’t do. So, when we got the lights in the arms made the lights far to low. Thankfully they were super easy to work with & we were able to figure out that we needed the G19 arm as seen below…
This new arm allowed the light box [wires] to enter at the bottom of the arm, but then brought the light way up as you can see above. They have a ton of arm options to fit your decor wants & renovation or building needs….
here are the lights before [photo from last year]…
& today…
As far as the color I struggled back and forth between a dark and light finish with the lights. I finally landed on the galvanized & I’m so happy with the finish with our home. We haven’t put shutters or new doors on our house yet so I feel like I went with a perfect balance that will go with any finish choices we end up going with. I love how the galvanized finish is the perfect balance between cottage & farmhouse. The lighting changed our entire house & I’m so excited about the dramatic change it made to our exterior. I will be sharing more thorough photos of the entire porch soon, but I had to share what I could in the rain today because I couldn’t keep these lights to myself anymore! Like I said there are 8 in total around the porch so more on that later. What do you guys think of our new Barn Light Electric Lights? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Can’t wait to hear what you think!! Thank you guys so so so much for stopping by the blog today & everyday.. it means the world to me. xx
Large industrial styled lighting gives a surprise factor to an old farmhouse, for sure. If you like them, and you do, that is all that counts.
And, if you tire of the galvanized finish, they can always be painted. Spray paints in all sorts of metallic finishes are available and give a nice finish product.
I love them. I didn’t think I would at first but I REALLY love them. I am thinking about a galvanized light hanging from my porch so seeing yours has made up my mind. YES. Love the photos with the sweet kitty.
Beautiful lights! I also wanted to say the porch floor looks very nice.
