Hi guys!!! For the past few months I have been sharing with you our Christmas decor here on the blog. I hope you guys have enjoyed it, felt inspired, & maybe even got a few ideas for your own christmas decor this year. I am a little disappointed that it’s almost Christmas and I’ve run out of time to share more, though I will be sharing more and more until Christmas for sure… I’m not yet done friends!! I wanted to come and pop on here today & share with you some changes I have made this past week to our Christmas decor. Some of you may think I’m crazy, but ya’ll I had to simplify our Christmas decor before I went a little crazy. The main room we “decluttered” was our dining room so here is a little peak at what it looks like today [you can see the tour of these spaces before [HERE] to get an idea of where we started.] This post is also to tell you that you can take a little video tour of our home right now as well…
The main part that got simplified is our dining room. I took down the big tree [see that funny moment [HERE] on our most recent vlog] and really took down most of the decor. This is the main part of the house that we walk through so walking past loads of decor every day was weighing on me. I feel like “stuff” really triggers my anxiety lately so this little freshen up did my soul some good! Oh, & here is also a little sneak peek of the new lighting in the space! It’s not quite “finished” but I will be doing the full reveal of it & why we did it very soon!
The last part I popped in here to tell you today? Well, I did a little video tour over on my Instagram of our holiday home!! Of course I cleaned up before welcoming you in my home, but just know our laundry room is a mess & 80% of our house is either under construction or untouched at this time. These dolls spoke to me this weekend. I’ve already had a few in my Halloween boxes, but this time I truly studied how they were made, their unique faces on every one, & how differently each was manufactured by the country of origin & date. I love the art of them & I don’t think they will just be in our Halloween decor, but also in our everyday decor displayed in a different way. I watched it on IG. I loved the tour and I totally get why you had to simplify the dining room. I get like that when there is too much going on. The funny thing is, sometimes when I style a space I force myself to put more things in because your spaces are so inspiring. Go big. This year I kept it more simple and I feel like I can breathe.
I too love the new dining room lights but the old ones did look so beautiful in the space which is why it was sooo popular and mimicked. Imitation is the highest form of flattery right? You have such a good eye and create the most beautiful spaces. Love your farmhouse

I think simple is becoming the new trend. I feel this way also. Over the next two weeks I am decluttering and simplifying my house/life from stuff. I started going through Christmas- wow do I really need that? I’m hoping to downsize our home to something more easy to maintain. One kid in college and the other going to be there in a few years so why not start now. It’s so funny I can remember when everything we owned fit in a few boxes and now you need a semi to move us ha ha. I love your home and style. I’m currently looking for our farmhouse to be our next home. Thanks for inspiring. Kim
Call me a party pooper but I loved the chandeliers! The ladder was a bit much but the chandeliers were gorgeous! With that said, I like these as well. I just love your decor. I follow your block most everyday and I have found so much inspiration.
At first I was not fond of your former chandeliers, but having something a little more refined, especially when you added your upholstered dining chairs, seemed to take the edge off the roughness of the room and tie the room together. Maybe without the ladder?
I think the new fixtures would suit the former metal chairs better and you might want to swap them out to see. It would definitely give the room a more industrial/primitive look.
I can understand that all the stuff got overwhelming and needed to be edited. Next year you may want to do things in a simple style and not have it overwhelm you and your home. Sometimes less is more. Lots of clutter does get overwhelming, even when it is holiday stuff.
