You guys!!! I FINALLY got a dream piece of furniture this week after years of looking for the perfect one. It’s actually kind of a funny story in a few different ways. The first funny thing is that on Saturday I went out antiquing with one of my business partners & pals, Abby, & that morning over coffee Jose asked me what I was hunting for that day & I said a bakers rack for the dining room. At the first stop, the first thing I found was the most perfect antique bakers rack I ever did see….
The second funny thing is? I had walked by this bakers rack at this exact same store before. I had even looked at the contents on the bakers rack before & kept walking. It’s like I had blinders on & only looked at the small things & not the big picture of what those small things were sitting on. Kind of disappointed in myself, but I actually feel like I’ve been looking at my life like that lately. I’ve been focusing on all of the small things. The not so important things. & making a very big deal of the small issues & not looking at how they do not matter in the big picture. You didn’t know that finding one of my dream pieces of furniture could get that deep could you? It can. It’s weird how some things can spark epiphanies in your right? A dream piece of furniture can do that….
I kind of just quickly moved this piece into the dining room under our large chalkboard for now & quickly styled it, but I will be playing with it more later when I get more time. You can see us getting it & moving it into this space in this weeks blog [HERE] or at the bottom of the post. You guys may be asking yourself, “But Liz, where did you put the buffet that was here?” Well, it’s in the kitchen.. for now. I won’t be getting rid of that piece as of right now, because to be honest with you that was a dream piece of furniture that I got back in North Carolina many years ago & it’s been in 4 homes of ours now & holds many memories. I was thinking it could even make a cute changing table in a nursery someday? We will see. Oh, & I also hung that new sheep print next to the new bakers rack as well… I’m loving her there.
I am LOVING this antique bakers rack for many reasons… I wanted more of a shelving unit here to easily store plates & dishes & display some of my kitchen antiques. This dining room of ours was getting a little “cabinet-ey” Yes that’s a word now. We had a lot of white cabinets in this space [5 to be exact] & I wanted to take a couple of them out this week & replace them with this bakers rack. I’ll be replacing the second cabinet I took out in a week or two with something fun that I’m also excited to show you. So now we are down to 3 white cabinets in this space.. that’s not too many right? Don’t answer that. I love me some white cabinets!! Ok, so here is a quick little introduction to one of my dream pieces of furniture that I got this past weekend… what do you think of it? Let me know in the comments below, find me on Facebook, & chat with me on Instagram. Thank you guys SO MUCH for stopping by the blog today!!
If you missed it, here is the vlog where we found this lovely piece…

The antique bakers rack is perfect for that space – love it!! I like when you take us with you into your favorite antique stores, so much fun. Loving your vlogs and the music with them. I look forward to them!
Love, Love, Love!
Hi Liz. Love the rack. I have one similar (a little taller) that I was told came from a shoe factory! You never know about the stories you get when you purchase a piece. It doesn’t matter what its original purpose was but how we repurpose it!
I need to begin the de-cluttering of my home. Painting some furniture now. Too cold here in Missouri to be outside.
Blessings.
I love the rack, and every thing around it.
Amazing piece. I love primitive too!! What a find. Score?. That might even work in the kitchen with crock bowls, scales etc.
Can I have the other piece that was there pretty please!!!!
Meh… not feeling the bakers/shoe/industrial rack.
Appears proportionately out of synch with the space and surrounding décor.
Love the baker’s rack and your vlogs. Can’t wait to see what color you decide to paint the floors.
Aww I’m to see the old piece no longer there. I loved it?
I LOVVEE!! The bakers rack in there, love the added wood tones. How much would one expect to pay for an authentic, antique bakers rack? I would also love to see what you did with the buffet that was here now that it lives in the kitchen!! Freezing rain here in Kansas today, hope y’all stay warm and dry up there in Michigan!
Oh my god Liz! You are so down to earth, beautiful and fun! I loved your vlog! Love your decor and your animals and your farm! I could see you having your very own WHite Cottage Farm Michigan HGTV show! I’ve got to get to your shop this spring! Oh! Absolutely love the bakers rack! Perfect location and you styled it beautifully!
Oh! I’m mIchiganer too! Love the mitten state!
