You know… I’m going to say it. I’m usually a winter person. Ask any of my close friends or family.. I don’t like to be hot so I am perfectly ok with being cold in the winter. I like to hibernate & enjoy the cosiness of being inside. I like snow and think it’s so pretty. But this year? This year I want it to go away…. I think I have the legit winter blues guys & the cloudy days are getting to me. Today was sunny so I took that as inspiration to bring a tiny bit of spring into our dining room. You know what else probably inspired me? The fact that our floors are finally done & we are starting to put our rooms back together. I repeat… WE HAVE STARTED TO PUT OUR ROOMS BACK TOGETHER! I will be blogging our “floor finishing finale” this week filled with your FAQ’s, answers to your questions, photos, & more. If you have any questions let me know in the comments below so I can find them all in one place to answer them. But today’s post is just a little simple spring centerpiece & I wanted to share it with you guys in case you were having a case of the winter blues like me. It’s simple, lovely, & fills me with hope for warmer weather & sunnier days ahead…
The furniture in the dining room is all in place for the most part, but now we just have to put everything else in place in the room.. the shelves are kind of a mess, we have things to hang, & you know how it goes… but that dining room table? It’s looking like spring & I can live with that. Here is a little rundown of how I styled the table: First I laid one of my all time favorite purchases from Pottery Barn lately & it’s this large table linen. The table linen is more of a square & laying it down adds so much texture and depth to the dark wood antique table. Honestly when I saw the tapestry in the store I freaked out because it was so pretty & then I went and looked at it on the website and was so shocked at how different [in a bad way] it looked on there. I’m so thankful I found this little guy in person because I for sure wouldn’t have bought it off the photo online.. just my honest opinion. I love the colors, textures, & everything about this table linen… I think I need another one for our future breakfast nook. After that I placed a basket & stems in the center of the table that I picked up in Illinois this weekend from a little shop called Midwest Retro Cool Stuff that had the cutest farmhouse & cottage decor items. I altered the basket a little bit by hanging a metal number plaque on the basket that I picked up from my friend Brooke of Brooklyn Finds. On the table itself I have some of our dinner plates from World Market, & few other lovely little everyday items. For this little setup I envisioned that someone was putting together a spring floral basket & got sidetracked so they left there little mess behind as they went to answer the phone or do the dishes. It’s a pretty spring mess & I kind of love it. Something like that. It’s just a beautiful mess. You can get some of the links to the items I used in the bottom of the post.
So it has begun I guess… now that the floors are done I can start breathing new life into the parts of our house that we are not demo-ing. The back living room? I’m about to rip that place to shreds… so let’s make the other parts of the house pretty that aren’t in shambles so that the rest of the house doesn’t bother us as much as they are getting worked on. I feel like knocking a wall down in this house what do you think?! We will talk about that later, but I have a feeling a wall is coming down in one room or two soon because I’m ready to kick these winter blues in the booty and get back to some house projects! Ok, THANK YOU so much for stopping by the blog today & every day to see what we are up to. It means the world to me! I hope you enjoyed this little vision of spring & that you feel inspired to bring little touches of spring into your home as well. Let me know what you think on Facebook & Instagram. xx

I love to create a centerpiece “mess” to change my attitude! I am dying to see photos of the kitchen and sunroom. Can’t wait! Walls tumbling down? GO. FOR. IT!
Love your style and your home!!!
I love this messy look! That table linen is really pretty too! I don’t see how you could keep from being ready for spring! Lol.. All of your snow is so beautiful, but as much as y’all get, I would have had the winter blues a long time ago! I am always ready for the next season though!
Beautiful centerpiece. Question why is most of you Rae Dunn pieces turned backwards in your China cabinet?
Loving the spring intro! And the nod on having to see the PB purchase in person. So glad to know I’m not the only one! I’m inspired now to put a little spring out since someone else thinks it is overdue too! Also would love to know The name of the songs that were playing on your Insta stories tour a couple days ago. I commented on Instagram also, so apologize if you get this question twice.
Breath taking as always! But I think my favorite part is the number “7”? A simple number with so much meaning. Thank you for sharing your heart and your talent!
Looks like some branches stuffed in a basket with some dishes around it… sorry but I don’t feel it!
Can I order those metal number plaques? I LOVE them!!!
So BEAUTIFUL and fresh looking! WE don’t have a real winter here, but I think I’d get the winter blues too!
Where did you get your chairs.
Love the look! What is the thickness of your pine floor planks?
