It’s that time guys… it’s time for all of us to decorate our homes for spring. Or at least freshen things up. The time change has happened, the weather is [supposed] to be warming up, & soon the trees will be budding. So, let’s let that reflect in our homes! I’ve been sharing some spring decor inspiration from our home, but today I wanted to break it down into 5 easy steps on how you can bring spring into your home…
1 Go green!
Bring in those greens. Don’t be afraid to go real & go faux. Mix it up & combine the real greens with the faux greens. Go green crazy! The second spring comes around you can find me buying any real greens from my local greenhouses I can get my hands on & hauling out our faux greens. I try to add a touch of spring green to every vignette, space, & corner of every room.
2 Freshen up!
Spring is the time to purge. At least in this house it is. Tidying up, purging, & clearing out unwanted items from every space in your home including home decor, closets, & other living spaces. It’s crazy what a little freshening up can do. Wash your curtains, air those rugs out, sweep those floors, clean those closets, dust those light fixtures, & scrub every corner of your home. It’s shocking what a little deep clean & purge can do to really bring on those spring vibes in your home.
3 Lighten up!
Lighten everything up! Get rid of all of those heavy textures, colors, & things just weighing everything down. Of course you don’t have to go as neutral or as light & bright as we do here at White Cottage Farm, but adding lighter fabrics [weight & color] like light & airy linens, lighter paint colors, lighter accents, & just more light in general. Let the light in the windows, open those windows, & let all the light in.
4 Bring the garden in!
Bring it all in. Bring the outdoors in. Grab some fresh flowers from the gardens and keep them in vases on your tables, in the kitchen, & even on your nightstands to keep the spring mood alive in every space. Don’t have a garden of your own? Visit a local flower stand weekly, stop in at your local grocery for some florals, or support a local floral shop… fresh flowers are an automatic ticket to spring vibes in your spaces & some florals in a vase just make every space happy.
5 Move it around!
This one is my favorite. Every season I get inspired to move our spaces around. This one might just be for the crazy people like me, but switching a living room layout around, making some big changes in bedroom furniture, bringing some new pieces into a dining room, & painting some furniture in the kitchen can all really make your home feel new for the new season. Moving it around also inspires cleaning which is the base of all things spring. So, pick up that sofa, vacuum underneath it, & enjoy your new living room layout.. I promise it will make you feel good!!
Here are just 5 really quick tips on how to bring spring into your homes that are tried & true in our home so I wanted to share them with you in hopes that it helps you welcome this new season in with cozy joy. Thank you guys so much for stopping by the blog today & I hope you will stop by some of my friends homes as they are sharing parts of their spring homes today as well.
