I really thought this was early, I mean it kind of is, but you guys it’s going to be summer in another month so today with a few of my blogging pals I wanted to show you a glimpse of the direction our home is going for the summer months. Two words: Fresh & Clean. Oh, also maybe these too: Cottage, greenhouse, cozy, lovely, eclectic, farmhouse… ok, I’m done. Here is a tiny glimpse of some of the lovely changes we have made as we have headed into warmer days here on the farm & a few simple ways you can transition your home into summer as well…
I spoke about this last week on the blog about freshening up the house. We are about to embark on some big house projects over the summer so I wanted to freshen things up before all of that mess started. So, I started by taking up all of our rugs around the house to do some major spring cleaning. I’ve kept them up because of the puppy & we actually love the freshness of it all. Rugs do make a space cozy, but sometimes cozy means that things are fresh and clean & that trumps having rugs down. I then purged half of our house.. I have a long ways to go, but I’ve given a lot of stuff away, brought a lot of it to our shop, & I still have a lot to purge, but we are getting there! You guys also know that I’ve been really practicing my plant lady skills so as the weather has been warming I’ve been bringing more into our farmhouse & it has really brightened up all of our rooms. You can read more about our plants [HERE]. I feel like freshness & greens just screams summer.. sometimes I feel like it’s all you need for a summer vibe in a home from real topiaries to faux branches in baskets.. Greenery can bring life to any space for summer.
Ever since we started working on the house I’ve been really getting cozy cottage greenhouse vibes & it’s been so fun to see my dream cottage greenhouse come to life in our farmhouse. We’ve been adding some of our vintage & new garden finds from terra-cotta pots, plant markers, seed packets, plant books, DIY flower art, & so much more to all of our spaces. Maybe it’s my long time obsession with peter rabbit & Mr. Mc Gregors garden, but these little collections bring so much joy and inspiration to our home especially as we come into this new summer season. I’m also inspired to head out to the garden more these days & these little collections definitely feed that inspiration to go and work in the garden. & that’s what summer is all about right? Having a cozy refreshing home to come relax in after a day playing in the dirt in the garden. One of my favorite garden displays is this bottle drying rack on our butcher block that I displayed some of my antique terra-cotta pots on…
A few more random snapshots around our house right before summer begins…
Our home is starting to ooze of summer & I can’t tell you how happy I am with the vibe of our home & all of the freshening up we have been doing. As we enter summer I highly recommend taking up the rugs, giving the house a good scrub down, purging all the unnecessary stuff, & bringing the summer vibes in with some garden inspired decor. Really feel out how your house will work for you this summer & how your house can serve you comfortably after those long days outside enjoying the sweet summer days. Really think about function over form & not so much about the decor, but more about that fresh feeling your house can have for the new season. Trust me, it works! I can’t wait to share our home all summer here on the blog with you guys, but for now be sure to stop by my friends blogs & see there early summer homes:

Liz it’s beautiful!! You truly love your home, and it shows ? Love the botanical pillow cover, where is it from?
Where is that beautiful chandelier from!?!!?
Love all of it so fresh, where did you get the pillow.
Your best look yet.
Gorgeous as always. Very inspiring
YES!! I love your “Cottage Greenhouse” look?
I’ve been calling my posts “Garden Style”
While I’d love to go out and buy all kinds of beautiful new things I’m restyling things I already have! Getting some ideas from your posts.
It’s like sunshine in your house and you can’t get any more summer than that.
The early summer tour is lovely, bright and airy.
Did notice… in the 1st photo after paragraph 1 , it appears you painted those lovely antique windows hanging in the dining room… gone is the dark green/black paint. Can also see a peek of the antique windows in photo 4 & photo 7, and the windows appear to have been painted. Photo 17 looks like an older photo, one first shared in the Coolest Antique Windows Ever post, in which the lovely antique windows retain the original dark green/black paint.
Such a shame… the stunning graphic quality of those lovely antique windows is now missing.
Stunning tour, beautiful lady. You inspire me everyday. Bless you and your sweet family ?
Just beautiful!!! Liz Marie you are a talent! Thank you so much for sharing your home and family. I am so very inspired by your beautiful gift of style. Best to you, your hubby and your sweet family of furry ones.
What color are the walls in your house?
As usual beautiful… Funny I started doing the same thing this week.. bringing summer back inside and out ? I for one don’t think it’s too early. After this gloomy winter we all need a little sunshine. Keep on inspiring us?
